Analytics is core to PayPal and we are a highly data driven organisation. We leverage data driven insights extensively in the areas of Risk Management. To support our insatiable appetite for analytics, we are setting up a Global Analytics Centre of Excellence in Dublin, that will support global and regional analytics needs across the Commercial Risk Management function. The Global Commercial Seller Risk team is responsible globally for the end to end management of seller risk for Large sellers.  These sellers (~2% of total active merchants) process > $500 000 in payments per month with PayPal and comprise ~ 60% of our global processing volume.

PayPal seeks a business-savvy, data-driven and action-oriented Senior Risk & Strategy analyst to focus on Business Insights and portfolio level research-  enabling us to cultivate deeper understanding of the current state and to monitor the status and ongoing portfolio performance of key initiatives.  across our global sphere of merchants and to optimize trade offs between risk exposure, losses, profitability and customer experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain, manage and track all Key Performance Indicators for the Commercial Seller Risk business
  • Perform deep dive insights to understand the drivers behind performance at portfolio and commercial risk operational level.  
  • Assist in discovery of new opportunities to grow and optimize business, optimize resources and risk/reward trade off’s using a data driven analytical approach.
  • Support global and regional strategic initiatives across the Commercial risk portfolio
  • Deep dive analyses on very large data using SQL/SAS or other tools and structuring of analyses using MS Excel.
  • Create new, maintain existing and enhance management reporting dashboards using reporting tools such as Tableau, QlikView etc.
  • Use the power of analytics to identify optimization opportunities across Commercial Seller Risk management.
  • Use analytics and statistics to improve our ability to detect, understand and address emerging trends across portfolio.
  • Share insights and have comfort in being able to present to a wide array of stakeholders- including regional and global functional leadership on key findings at operational review meetings.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics)
  • 2 + year of related experience in Business or risk analytics in a fast moving and matrixed environment
  • Analysis: Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations
  • Product: Perform modeling/analytics to assist new product and business strategies
  • Previous experience in product, marketing or business analytics a plus
  • 2+ experience with SQL OR a major software engineering language (Python, C++) required
  • Familiarity with statistical packages (SAS or R) and reporting tools (QlikView and Tableau) is highly desired.
  • 2+ years of experience in relational database querying (SQL, Teradata)
