As a member of the User Experience Design team at PayPal, you will create meaningful and cohesive end-to-end experiences through a deep understanding of our customers and exceptional design execution. You will collaborate with product and technology teams to build the next generation of financial service products by bringing the customer to the forefront in everything we do. We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team and contribute to in-store and in person experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in shaping the direction and trajectory of an integrated experience that reaches millions of users globally. You will be collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team (Business Stakeholders, Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, Designers) in all phases of design from discovery to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Leads UX efforts across a team, driving discussion and activities, while participating in delivery, planning and coordination efforts. 
  • Determines best UX solutions based on customer feedback and business goals and helps to determine overall direction, identifying challenges and adapting as needed based on the context of the solution and customer. 
  • Is customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights. 
  • Influence product, design and engineering executives through storytelling and analytics. 
  • Present a broad set of potential designs for any project. 
  • Leverages and extends the use of established UX techniques and deliverables.
  • Contributes to the UX community of practice through the adoption of new technologies and methodology. 
  • Proposes new solutions or optimizes existing ones. Encourages artifact reuse and consistency across team members and projects. 
  • Sets an example and creates opportunities to foster collaborative cross-discipline dynamics. Drives UX team delivery excellence, furthering internal and external UX influence and goals. 
  • Formally mentors more junior UX resources in best practices, process and methodology.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience. 
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in the study of design including one of the following; Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors or equivalent project/portfolio experience.
  • Complete UX skill set: workshop facilitation, identifying customer problem statements, problem discovery, solution generation, concept creation, wireframing, testing, synthesis, iteration, prototyping, heuristic evaluation, competitive analysis, customer journey mapping, applying design systems and producing deliverables for development. 
  • Proficiency designing for multiple devices and platforms with a proven ability to deliver high-quality results.  
  • Experience leading delivery, through feedback, design critique, presentation to program sponsors, planning and coordinating with partners where needed. 
  • Thorough knowledge of essential channels and platforms, with experience in mobile, dedicated, web and native solution design. 
  • Experience with resources such as product design systems, repositories and internal communication tools. 
  • Solid knowledge of story and backlog management tools and resources such as JIRA, Rally. 
  • Process-oriented but agile: the ability to quickly translate requirements into designs that are both functional and beautiful.
  • Curious and data-driven, with an iterative mindset; Can make decisions based on data and intuitions.
  • Ability to both provide and receive design criticism constructively and appreciation for its importance within the design process.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a clean visual aesthetic and strong eye for detail.
  • A natural, deep curiosity that drives you to learn, investigate and constantly ask why.
  • Strong sense of ownership and a “whatever it takes” attitude towards getting stuff done.
  • Solid communication skills, including the ability to persuade and inspire, a knack for breaking down complex concepts and a proactive attitude towards knowledge sharing.
  • Boundless creativity when it comes to generating ideas, but an understanding that execution is what ultimately matters.
  • Comfort with ambiguity with an instinct for moving quickly.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience designing either E-commerce, Retail or Shopping products.
  • Experience designing mobile apps on both iOS and Android.
  • Experience with multi-channel initiatives.
  • UX Storytelling.
  • Detailed knowledge of how modern web & mobile applications are built.
