This incumbent will be responsible for establishing and executing strategic merchant ubiquity plans in Japan. The plans should strengthen PayPal’s global 2-sided networks and lead local team to win in highly competitive and highly regulated Japanese market. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible to liaise between corporate teams and country needs to foster collaboration and bring new products to fuel growth in Japan.

Set and lead Japan market strategy across all merchant segments (Enterprise, SMB and Channel Partners). Advocate and communicate strategy to JP Sales teams and cross-functional leadership. Identify step change growth opportunities for Japan market Manage full project lifecycle from ideation through launch. Work cross-functionally to gain buy-in, support, and assist in driving new product introduction for Japan market. Expert use of business analytics to support each opportunity and monitor performance data. Set expectations and manage stakeholder relationships successfully. Strong expertise in building internal and external alliances to gain and share information including industry trends.  

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree. MBA a plus

  • 15+ year experience in Consulting and/or Technology/online industry experience. Experience in Payment industry is plus.

  • Knowledge of online products and market dynamics; understanding of PayPal’s strategic and competitive position.

  • Large scale project management experience. Track record in delivering large-scale and/or multiple projects concurrently and effectively in very fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to provide direction and prioritize team goals and workload

  • Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively across functions and geographies.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills; ability to develop strategy, business plans, customer and market insights, analyze campaign effectiveness/ROI.

  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills

  • Fluency in business English.
