PayPal is committed to combating Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing (TF), and related financial crimes around the world. The Global Financial Crimes (GFC) organization is comprised of specialized teams dedicated to developing and implementing effective policies, advanced analytics and thorough investigative processes that consider the risks posed by PayPal’s products, customers, transaction volumes and jurisdictions in which PayPal operates. The GFC program includes ongoing support of integration plans for newly acquired companies, including updating AML policies and procedures, supporting the remediation of audit and regulatory issues, and evaluating business opportunities related to new and existing products and services. GFC is seeking a highly talented and experienced AML professional to provide dedicated financial crimes support for PayPal’s newly acquired Hyperwallet business. The successful candidate will partner with Risk and Compliance Officers, Money Laundering Reporting Officers and other key leaders globally to review new and evolving business verticals and product constructs involving Hyperwallet while also supporting integration plans and ongoing audit and regulatory examinations. This role will report to the Director of AML Policy within the larger GFC organization. The successful candidate will be highly efficient with exceptional communication skills and proven ability to lead through change while balancing multiple projects and priorities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and assessing the ML/TF Risks relevant to PayPal’s customers and strategic partnerships, building deep subject matter expertise regarding PayPal’s products and services, partner relationships and payment flows
  • Partner with GFC stakeholders, including compliance investigators, to evaluate potential AML risks for new and existing opportunities
  • Oversee progress against audit and regulatory exam findings, leading efforts related to AML policy enhancements for PayPal’s Hyperwallet business and coordinating closely with M&A integration leaders
  • Evaluating Controls designed to mitigate ML/TF risks as well as capabilities for identifying and reacting to changes in the business environment and risk landscape;
  • Preparing executive level presentations to ensure ongoing awareness of PayPal product trends, high risk industry approvals and opportunities to enhance processes to evaluate new and existing AML risks;
  • Draft documentation utilized in regulatory examinations and internal reviews globally;

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will hold a minimum 5 years of AML, Compliance, investigative or similar experience. A college degree and relevant experience in a manager level position at a financial institution or consulting firm is preferred.
  • Preferred experience in drafting AML/Financial Crimes policies  
  • Experience with understanding and evaluating investigative practices and proposing process improvements
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively at multiple levels and across disciplines
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with the demonstrated ability to understand and lead effectively within a complex GFC program in a changing regulatory environment
  • Proven ability to exhibit agility in navigating from current state to proposed solutions
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to executive audiences, regulators/external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to execute in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
