As an Identity Experience software engineer, you will be responsible for working on applications and services that handle all aspects of the PayPal authentication system. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given. You will master both established and cutting edge technologies like JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, React, Node.js, among others.

As an Identity Experience team engineer, your responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered via applications and services
  • Working with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time
  • Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable
  • Supporting your applications and/or services as and when required on a 24x7 basis

Successful Identity Experience team engineers will:

  • Exhibit a strong backbone and challenge the status quo when needed
  • Demonstrate a high level of curiosity and keep abreast of the latest technologies

  • BS/MS (CS or related major preferred)
  • have prior internship or related work experience. (3+ years work experience)
  • Experience building highly scalable applications/services using Node.js and HTML/CSS/JavaScript that are used every day by millions of people


  • Candidates from 1 to 10+ years of experience are welcome for a variety of roles and levels
  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficient in both client-side and server-side JavaScript programming
  • Proficient in web front-end and server-side technologies (HTML5/CSS/JavaScript/NodeJS/React)
  • Cognizant of modern database/storage technologies
  • Competent in designing and building web applications and/or web services in a commercial setting
  • Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance
  • Competent in software engineering tools (e.g. build tools) and best practices (e.g. test automation and continuous integration)
