The Payments and Data Transformation team is a new in the Common Platforms organization. The Payments & Data Transformation program is a multi-year journey to create best-in-class middle office capabilities on highly scalable common platforms supporting all financial products across PayPal and its tenants. The outcomes of the transformation program is broadly defined by three themes: 1) improve customer experience, 2) manage risk & controls, and 3) align on common platforms. The Position is for a Sr. Engineering Manager to lead the architecture for the implementation of a Core Banking Platform. He/She works closely with the team members to understand business and technical requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and Technology strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural standards. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding and testing applications. Experienced engineering manager works closely with the Enterprise Architect team and the BA’s to translate functional requirements into technical approaches and layout the basis of the implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, build and develop a team of engineers – onshore and offshore
  • Responsible for the development of new features and improvements of applications for deposits management system (core banking platform)
  • Accountable for the delivery of an end to end Deposits Management Solution for the enterprise
  • Lead integrations with internal legacy systems/platforms
  • Provides application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project
  • Codes, tests, debugs and documents software applications
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented
  • Analyzes requirements, and translates business requirements into product designs
  • Writes technical specifications and other forms of documentation
  • Conducts planning, analysis and forecasting activities to plan projects and tasks
  • Provide leadership and/or guidance to other technical professionals.

Skills/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • Technical Team Management experience

12+ years relevant experience

  • Background in Banking Industry and Payments
  • Experience building out a focus on micro-services/API based platform
  • Experience building out an integration development/enablement based platform on type and experience with specific associated software
  • Demonstrates an understanding of agile methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of Platform integration
  • Knowledge of leading banking platform solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving, team, and time management skills
  • Agile environment experience with great communication and collaboration skills
  • Deposits management expertise will be an asset
  • Expertise on performance testing and tuning will be an asset
  • Demonstrates an understanding of C2P systems and the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of Java tech stacks
  • Knowledge of Java (JDK 1.6/1.7), J2EE, Hibernate 3, EJB 3.1, SQL, XML
  • knowledge of WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss or Liberty
  • knowledge of Oracle/DB2 databases

•        Experience developing RESTful Web Services.  • CI/CD knowledge will be an asset

•        Understanding of TDD, unit testing, and integration testing (i.e., Citrus, Cucumber etc)

•        Knowledge of Websphere Integration Developer (WID), Eclipse, IntelliJ or NetBeans will be an asset

•        Knowledge of jBPM, BPEL or BPMN will be an asset

•        Payment expertise e.g. DE, NPP, ISO20022, SEPA, SWIFT MT will be an asset

•        Expertise on performance testing and tuning will be an asset

•        Knowledge of MQ Server will be an asset.

•        Knowledge of FIS OPF frameworks will be an asset
