This position will be based in San Jose, California reporting to the Senior Manager of Transfer Pricing (TP) for APAC and EMEA in PayPal’s Tax Department. As a member of a 5-person TP team, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day support with respect to the TP function in APAC and EMEA including assistance with compliance, controversy, and business planning initiatives.

This position will be based in San Jose, California reporting to the Senior Manager of Transfer Pricing (TP) for APAC and EMEA in PayPal’s Tax Department. The individual would be part of a 5-person TP team. The TP team at PayPal develops global TP policies for the company, implements and maintains cost sharing structures and Platform Contribution Transactions (PCT),  provides transfer pricing planning and Advanced Price Agreement (APA) support,  forecasts transfer pricing payments for provision purposes, monitors foreign entities’ profitability, maintains intercompany agreements, prepares and reviews transfer pricing documentation, supports TP audits, and assists all business units on intercompany pricing related matters.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Senior Manager of TP with oversight of the TP function in APAC and EMEA, including assistance with the development and maintenance of the TP strategy on key business planning initiatives;
  • Work with business and functional leaders to ensure that the TP policies are aligned with the strategic corporate and tax objectives of the PayPal group;
  • Assist with the identification of tax planning opportunities resulting from changes in business, operations, or regulatory requirements;
  • Together with the Senior Manager of TP, be a regional TP contact for questions related to various business initiatives, intercompany pricing policies, TP models, IP migrations, intercompany agreement needs, and business integrations;
  • Preparation of APAC and EMEA TP reports required under OECD BEPS Action Item 13, including conducting and documenting APAC and EMEA functional analysis interviews, reviewing tested party financials, and comparable company searches;
  • Review intercompany cross-charges, intercompany agreements, and TP calculations prepared by Accounting and regional Shared Services teams to ensure transfer pricing policies are met;
  • Assist with the ongoing review of international TP specific reserves on a quarterly basis, to ensure such reserves are reasonable and aligned to the facts of our business; and
  • Provide transfer pricing support in various APAs, appeals, litigations, and audits in the APAC and EMEA region.

Job Requirements: REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 4 to 6 years of related transfer pricing experience (Big 4 or Financials Services experience a plus);
  • Deep understanding of transfer pricing principles, theory and interpretation;
  • Strong analytical skills (hands-on excel modelling experience a plus);
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Team player and self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (SAP/BW experience a plus); and
  • This job requires international travel up to 10% each year.
