This role will help design and execute proactive communications campaigns and content development to build awareness and understanding of how PayPal manages our world-class security, risk and privacy models for consumers and merchants globally. The person in this role will also be responsible sharing PayPal’s strategy as it relates to data and analytics to reinforce the value proposition and trust we give both consumers and merchants.

We are seeking someone who is creative, works quickly, and has a desire to learn about difficult and complex security issues so that they can translate them into simple terms for broader audiences. S/he has an open mind but thinks critically and can identify potential risks and opportunities associated with communications and business decisions (all while creating nuanced messaging to manage numerous possible outcomes). An ability to work collaboratively is essential, as this person will work closely with multiple product and marketing teams and other members of the global communications team to achieve results. This position reports to the Head of Global Merchant Communications.


Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of proactive communications campaigns and content that increase awareness and understanding of PayPal’s security, risk and privacy controls, both during launch moments and throughout the year on a proactive and reactive basis
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media and influencer contacts within the security, risk and privacy industry
  • Develop and write a wide range of communications materials including messaging, press plans, blog posts, pitches, bylines, social content, reactive statements, presentations and briefing materials
  • Tackle day-to-day media inquiries and briefings
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well cross-functionally both internally and with external agencies
  • Contribute and collaborate with PayPal’s global communications team
  • Prepare and deliver communications performance reports to leadership

    Job Requirements

  • Strong relationships with technology and security media in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to deliver B2B communications programs that drive strategic business priorities
  • An understanding of the security, risk and privacy matters impacting the industry, as well as a strong understand on how to leverage data and analytics to tell communications stories
  • A team player attitude with strong interpersonal skills who is also a collaborator – this position may with multiple departments and functions throughout PayPal.
  • Ability to think creatively and generate recommendations for tactical problem solving.
