PayPal is looking for a content professional to clearly and effectively explain and promote complex security technologies both internally to employees and externally to customers, partners, and the general public. This position serves as a member of technical staff within the Information Security Assurance & Governance team and is not a media relations role though this Content Specialist will have regular interaction with the PayPal Global Communications team in support of consistency of messaging.

The PayPal Information Security team’s goal is to “Help make the Internet a safe, secure, reliable, and trusted place for PayPal and its customers to do business.” The ideal candidate has demonstrable competence, experience in, and an obvious passion for clearly explaining complex concepts and technologies for both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate can think analytically and creatively, converse as easily with engineers as with artists, and easily leverages everyday metaphors and analogies to breathe life into the driest technical specifications.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Work in concert with the PayPal Global Communications team in designing an effective communication strategy focused on documenting and explaining complex security concepts and technologies.
  • Work with senior security technologists to develop explanatory materials such as whitepapers, presentations, videos, blog posts, and other materials in support of the communication strategy.
  • Design clear and compelling diagrams, charts, and related graphics that illustrate complex security concepts and technologies to be used in materials supporting the communication strategy.
  • Manage, and provide regular content for, the PayPal Security Blog in support of the communication strategy in concert with the PayPal Global Communications team.
  • Monitor technical security industry news and conferences and author summaries, and blog posts, on topics of interest to the Information Security team.
  • Contribute to internal PayPal publications with articles summarizing and explaining security trends and technologies.
  • Support information security training and awareness activities.
  • Coordinate PayPal activities at global conferences.

    Support the PayPal marketing and PR teams in their efforts to explain complex security concepts and technologies in their materials

    Job Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and design skills; webinar and public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Strong self-motivation, self-management, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to set and hit deadlines as well as the flexibility to adjust to include unplanned activities.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience writing about highly technical topics; specific experience in technical security in general, and Internet security in specific, is a plus.
