The Solution Consultant will be part of the Sales Engineering team, and will work with various internal and external client groups to drive world-class buying experiences through PayPal on the UK’s largest commerce and retail brands. You will be responsible for providing product functional expertise, analytical insight and implementation consultancy for top-tier retailers and partners, who have implemented PayPal products and form part of our extensive merchant network in the UK. To be successful you will demonstrate outstanding technical ability and agility, coupled with a passion to deliver improvements that have tangible benefits for our customers and, of equal importance, our consumers. As a consultant, expert and trusted partner, you will build relationships within your customer portfolio to gain a deep understanding of their PayPal product use to identify and deliver technical enhancements.

Core responsibilities:

  • End-to-end involvement on optimisation projects designed to improve the checkout experience on our merchant and partner platforms.  Partnering with the Large Merchant Relationship Management and Business Development teams to highlight improved solutions, introduce new products and provide technical guidance and final certification during the implementation stage.
  • Use consultative methodologies and techniques, including storytelling and effective presentations to business and technical personnel of all levels at merchants and partners (e.g. This will involve the creation of PowerPoint presentation, mock-ups, demo tools and other support materials).
  • Use market and competitive environment knowledge to craft and deliver compelling proposals to merchants and partners.
  • Assess implementation risks; work with external and internal stakeholders to proactively and effectively remove obstacles to successful project delivery.
  • Best Practice Adoption. Work with merchants, partners and internal teams to champion best in class functionality and buyer experience.
  • Leverage customer relationship and time management skills to effectively prioritize work with multiple merchants or partners concurrently.
  • Be recognized as a subject matter expert and influence key internal stakeholders (e.g. commercial and product teams).

Skills & Abilities required:

  • Studying Computer Science or related degree.
  • Demonstrable experience with at least one web/software development environment (e.g. .NET, Java, PHP, C/C#/C++).
  • Knowledge of mobile application (iOS or Android) development is considered a plus.
  • Good team player with collaborative approach and ability to forge constructive relationships quickly.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, motivated, proactive and customer focused individual.
