Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 305 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. As a Risk Insights Analyst, you’ll use data-driven insights to solve complex business problems and inform impactful business decisions. By collaborating closely with the global Seller Risk Operations team and other operations, sales, product, and finance colleagues, you will directly impact PayPal’s bottom line while ensuring white-glove service for our merchants. If you are a driven, analytical thinker that values collaboration, continuous learning, and problem-solving, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

  • Utilize SQL, Python, Excel, and other analytical tools to mine and analyze business data to influence decisions that directly affect PayPal’s bottom line
  • Use Looker, Tableau, and other visualization tools to create dashboards that will help monitor team and portfolio performance
  • Build, own, and improve financial and operational reporting and models
  • Analyze research & KPIs to provide insights to the Risk and other operational teams to identify inefficiencies, improve policies and procedures, and assess potential product risks.
  • Collaborate with a diverse global team of colleagues and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and seek out new challenges, including learning new tools and systems, solving new problems, and trying novel analytical methods.
  • Perform other risk and analysis-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Science, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Math, Business)
  • 1+ years of prior work or internship experience in analytics, business intelligence, data analysis, consulting or another related field
  • Mastery of SQL and knowledge of other analytical and data-mining tools such as R or Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and then communicate findings effectively to senior leadership both written and verbal
  • A team player (we believe in “we” vs. “I”)

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in risk management (fraud, credit, compliance, etc.)
  • Experience in the payments/fintech industry
  • Knowledge of Salesforce reporting
