The CET Finance team is a key partner and enabler of the Global Merchant, Consumer and Risk organization. The team is responsible for helping them meet business objectives and KPI goals by providing outstanding finance support and business insights. Specifically, for Risk finance team, we are responsible for forecasting PayPal and its subsidiaries’ transaction losses accurately, monitoring risk performance across various segments globally, driving decisions on risk management, and enabling efficient investments by the company.
Our team is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for the risk analyst to join risk finance team and work with closely with our risk product leaders and help drive decisions on key risk initiatives.

  • Work cross functionally with Risk, Product, FP&A, and Controllership teams to manage transaction risks
  • Drive transaction risk strategies and decisions to enable PayPal’s rapid growth
  • Participate in financial modeling and forecasting of transaction losses for PayPal and its subsidiaries like Venmo, Xoom, and Braintree
  • Compile and communicate the monthly transaction loss results and drivers to partners in CE&T, FP&A, and Controllership
  • Work with CE&T Risk teams to understand the risk strategy impact to different business segments including products, regions, risk MOs, etc.
  • Execute monthly transaction loss forecasts based on transaction loss data using financial models
  • Develop best practice forecasting models for loss provisioning
  • Review financial model performance and implement enhancement where necessary
  • Work with Controllership and Finance teams to successfully manage the internal and external audit reviews.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and partner with different teams
  • Work requires independent and innovating thinking to identify and analyze problems and to evaluate various situations and clearly articulate complex messages both in oral and written forms
  • Leverage data & systems to enable metrics forecasting & analysis across global PayPal business.
  • Mine massive amount of data and perform large-scale data analysis to extract useful business insights
  • Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross functional groups
  • Develop strong hypotheses, independently solve problems, and uncover business insights to drive growth
  • Drive understanding of PayPal’s operations, investments, and P&L
  • Design and implement reporting dashboards that track key business metrics and provide actionable insights
  • Independent self-starter; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS, MS or MBA degree in Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Operations Research, or related field from an academic institution plus 6 years of experience
  • Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches (or equivalent)
  • Experience with SQL or other programming languages (Python, Java, and/or C++) highly preferred
  • Experience with statistical analysis, experience with packages such as SAS, R, MATLAB, Excel, etc. highly preferred
