PayPal is seeking a Release Manager & New Legal Entity Integration Manager to join Finance Transformation and enabling Technologies team in Scottsdale. The Release Manager will be responsible for all aspects of a release from integration planning to post-live support. This position will work closely with members of Global Finance Operations, Accounting, FP&A and other stakeholders from Finance team, issue ticket tool Admins and other IT counter parts.

The Release Manager in T&ET will oversee the entire release process for Finance Applications including technical deployment management, release planning, managing/coordinating the progress and final delivery of application development projects through all phases including design, development, testing, piloting, deployment, and post-production support. In this position, the Release Manager will work with and coordinate across several work teams in different regions and time zones to ensure the timely, orderly and successful delivery of multiple releases and change requests The Release Manager will define and implement processes and tools necessary to effectively manage solution delivery through the finance application life cycle. He/She will assess the current methodology, identify / rationalize gaps vs. best practices, and continuously improve the overall process to support the aggressive case management deployment schedule associated with the business roadmap. He/She will partner with OCIO, Finance T&ET, and the business unit to implement associated releases. A major goal of this position is to insert the appropriate amount of process and control to manage deployment risk, ensure deliverable quality and performance while minimizing unnecessary administrative overhead.

Additionally, this role will actively participate in SAP New Legal Entity implementation projects through initiation, analysis, execution and implementation phases. This role will engage with cross-functional business, primarily M&A and technology team members through the project life-cycle, Overall coordination of SAP integration between multiple entities, stakeholder management & communication and successful completion of SAP legal entity set-up.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the end-to-end technical deployment from release planning all the way to production support and be the final point of accountability for all technical issues for the release.
  • Create release plans and coordinating the execution of these plans before and during software deployment.
  • Ensure effective ongoing release coordination and release scheduling.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all relevant stakeholders to firm up with Yearly Moratorium calendar, release dates and exception approval process.
  • Communicate with multiple groups (technology and business) for coordination and execution of test scripts.
  • Management of release cycles in adherence to release schedules.
  • Provide milestone management oversight to senior management to ensure release planning, controls and progress are completed; coordinating planning and management of release validation and implementation processes.
  • Work with cross functional teams to resolve process issues
  • Collaborate across functional team boundaries.
  • Conduct release post-mortems with cross functional teams and help incorporate learning's into playbooks and processes as appropriate, conducting Root cause analysis and ensuring successful completion of action items to avoid incidents.

  • Recommend new and/or improved process changes within and beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities
  • Strong Knowledge of SAP applications
  • Analyze and document solutions to meet customer business needs across the SAP landscape (FICO, MM, SD, Ariba, GRC and other Finance applications)
  • Partner with M&A team to continuously evaluate and execute strategic process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and clarity to customers during the New Legal Entity requirements gathering phase.
  • Analyze, validate and confirm completeness of NLE requirements.
  • Ensure NLE IT team actively develops and maintains implementation documentation, including templates and best practices
  • Maintain a high-level understanding and oversight of all M&A projects, ensuring implementation and upgrade integrity
  • Responsible for ensuring SAP end-user support to all user groups onboarded as part of NLE migration
  • Responsible for partnering with other corporate teams, including Accounting, Procurement, Finance and IT resources.
  • Ensure delivery of industry best practice standard application solutions for NLE business processes.
  • Ensure that key NLE project milestones are achieved.
  • Collaborate with business partners across geographies to ensure localization requirements for NLE implementation are met

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field is preferred
  • 10+ years of strong operational support experience in SAP ECC,, BW, BPC, BOBJ, Ariba, and Bank Analyzer, preferably within the technology or financial services industry
  • Preferable - experience leading a support team or sufficient support team experience to meet qualifications to lead a support team
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting issues
  • Ability to work with process modeling tools such as HP ALM, IBM BlueWorks Live, Visio, ITSM, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, etc.)
  • Affinity for a high-performance, project-oriented work environment; ability to pivot to critical path tasks as necessary
  • Team oriented individual and self-starter who excels at learning new processes and business functions
  • Good communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience.
  • Good written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
  • Strong technical/development background and proven ability to dig into technical details and manage deployments from end-to-end.
  • Proven experience leading the design and implementation of application development programs and release management processes.
  • Experience managing projects through the full development life cycle including support during pilot, rollout, and post production.
  • Strong business expertise, keen understanding of business needs, and ability to translate these needs into aggressive yet achievable roadmaps and delivery schedules.
  • Proficient with release documentation and comfortable developing/using metrics to measure release success and identify efficiency improvement areas.
  • Success in developing artifacts to support major software implementation projects with multiple stakeholders across several regions.
  • Professional maturity combined with high energy and collaborate with other teams.
  • Experience working in large, complex environments, with specific focus on infrastructure and/or applications development.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse, highly complex problems and ability to devise solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple project teams and inter-related workstreams including collaboration across multiple organizations such as PMO, IT, QA, Release Management, and Finance operations
