PayPal helps businesses go global by enabling payments for over 200+ markets through cross border eCommerce. The Relationship Manager is acting as the primary point of contact of a portfolio of PayPal’s SMB (Small & Medium Businesses) Merchants in Hong Kong. The objective will be to grow the PayPal business for these accounts and build strong, lasting and profitable relationships.

Utilizing in-depth industry knowledge and merchant insights, the Relationship Manager is an expert in PayPal solutions, delivering best-in-class service and negotiate mutually beneficial commercial and marketing agreements.

Main Responsibilities

  • This RM position will report to the Head of Engagement, Paypal HKT region
  • Develop and implement a strategic execution plan and initiatives to grow the existing SB (Small Business) portfolio.
  • To maximize the share of wallet from SB merchants and meet the SB revenue target
  • Retain the SB portfolio to avoid churn and responsible for maximizing PayPal’s share of wallet against competitors.
  • Responsible for cross-selling and upselling PayPal’s new product and services to meet or exceed share of wallet goals for the SB portfolio
  • Garner cross-functional resources (CS Operations, Risk Operations, Marketing, Telesales, etc.) to enable the execution of the plan.
  • Serve as a lead and high-level contact for promising SB clients.
  • Deep dive into analytics; to have an excellent knowledge and understanding of SB revenue performance, key levers and footings contributing to SB revenue growth.
  • Understand the overall industry trend/insight to ensure PayPal’s business strategy fits the growth of that industry.
  • Act as primary liaison with internal key contacts (Sales, Marketing, Solutions Management, Product, Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance etc.) for the SB portfolio engagement matters.


Job Requirements:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Innovative & Growth mindset
  • Minimal 5 years of relevant work experience in a customer/client-facing role(s), ideally in consulting, VC/PE, or any other analytical role within a rapidly growing company
  • MBA or similar degree preferred
  • Understand complex requirements and help craft custom solutions
  • Able to operate in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment, using strong organizational and planning skills & identifying business priorities
  • Experience in e-commerce and/or online payments is a plus
  • Fluent in written & spoken business English; Mandarin Chinese language capability is also required in this role for optimal market support

  • Strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial spirit to excavate sales opportunities;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and presentation skills required.

  • Research and problem-solving skills whilst working with multiple internal departments to address and solve merchant queries;
  • Must be a proactive self-starter, open to change, high on initiative and comfortable taking charge in highly matrixed, “virtual team” environment.
