As a Quality Engineering Manager in Global Operations Technology, you will apply your software engineering management skills to direct customer quality activities throughout all phases of the software development life cycle in support of delivering internal applications to the 8,000 teammates in PayPal’s call centers world-wide.

Work with subordinate managers and test leads, develop functional processes and operational policies to certify new application workflows, new software services, and define the necessary metrics to monitor project quality. Drive initiatives to close quality gaps in test and production environments.



Responsibilities include:

  • Set strategic vision, mentor and provide guidance to test teams in the execution of Global Operations projects ensuring on-time delivery of call center applications with high quality.
  • Manage capital and expense budgets; perform capacity planning, resource allocation and scheduling; Manage project risks and track issues to resolution.
  • Define and implement a comprehensive test automation strategy to expand existing test coverage and improve test velocity, while mentoring test teams on test automation design, and coding techniques
  • As needed, process production escalations, resolve issues and work to minimize impact with detailed mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Mentor leads or managers on performance management, and career development in order to build highly effective teams.
  • Ensure test strategies focus on areas of greatest risk, and identify defects as early as possible in the development lifecycle.
  • Define and implement best practices to drive production issues to zero.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Agile Development methodology.
  • Knowledge of web technologies: Application Servers, CSS, XML, AJAX, SOAP and REST.
  • Knowledge of web application test automation frameworks: Cactus, or Selenium.
  • Experience with TestNG, and Java-based open source tools.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools: Rally, JIRA.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in software development of quality engineering supporting the delivery of web applications, or highly distributed software systems in enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years in leading software quality or software engineering teams.
