Product Owner for cross functional projects and user experience research to improve our workforce experience, collaboration and productivity

Do you like research, analysis, building use cases and resolving problems? Are you fascinated with user experience? The PayPal Office of the CIO is looking for a collaborative, analytical and proactive Product Owner in our Strategic Employee Applications Team. This person will work on cross functional projects and user experience research to improve our workforce experience, collaboration and productivity.

The Strategic Employee Applications Team partners with many teams across the Office of the CIO and the business to create and deliver world-class employee technology solutions and user experience research.   We drive solutions thru research and analysis across multiple technologies that enable the PayPal workforce to do their jobs and become more productive every day.

Primary Job Responsibilities include:

  • Develop effective matrixed relationships with Product Lead, Sponsors, Business Customers and Technologists (PMO, Architecture, Product Owners, Vendors, Engineering, etc.) across multiple geographies to prioritize projects, capabilities and product backlog in accordance with our vision, strategy, business value, dependencies and technical risk, and to deliver these solutions
  • Recommend continued improvements and best practices to support business strategy and operational needs, including proactive review of existing solutions against industry best practices.
  • Develop and track high level KPI’s and goals
  • Manage and improve a sustainable user experience research portfolio to gather feedback, analyze metrics and industry trends for our solutions. Our user experience research results should be used as input to define better solutions for our users.
  • Define and document business requirements, use cases, data flows, and research/process analysis for cross functional solutions. Act as “user champion” during solution delivery/deployment.
  • Define, groom, document and maintain user stories/requirements in partnership with the Engineering team. 
  • Maintain high-level roadmaps and backlog for projects including developing new proposals and user stories
  • Manage multiple complex milestones and deliverables concurrently during project/solution delivery and fixes
  • Define solution launch strategy when needed.  Partner with the organizational change management and communications team, as appropriate.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on projects assigned.
  • Coach and mentor other product owners and business analysts in delivering customer-focused results, user experience research and continuous improvement.
  • Provide appropriate updates, reviews with partners and management team.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant technology experience in business analysis, product ownership, user experience and product marketing
  • Strong understanding of database principles, SQL, data analysis, user experience and SDLC
  • Experience with Rally, Enterprise Collaboration Products (Microsoft products), Data, Integrations and Custom Development Solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels including senior management.
  • Comfortable in prioritizing and delivering multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization
  • Highly flexible in learning new technologies and deploying end to end solutions quickly and iteratively
  • Proven track record in delivery of customer focused solutions on time and on quality, with demonstrated strategic thinking and business acumen
  • Team-first orientation with highly effective organization, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills across all stakeholders
  • Ability to work in Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.
  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Product Owner Certification (CSPO or Pragmatic Marketing) preferred.
