The M&A Integration Architect is a cross-functional technical leader chartered to lead technical diligence and integration activities for PayPal’s current and future acquisitions.  You will perform in-depth technical analysis of potential acquisitions and partnerships and define and drive the optimal approach to integrate acquired products, technology, and operations functions

PayPal's technology organization designs, develops, and maintains mobile, web, and back office systems that bring financial flexibility to over 270 million active customers around the globe. The Strategic Technology Enablement (STE) team defines PayPal's technology strategy and acts as a champion for the technologies and technologists that will maintain PayPal’s leadership position and fulfill its vision to democratize financial services for all.

The M&A Integration Architect is a cross-functional technical leader within STE chartered to lead technical diligence and integration activities for PayPal’s current and future acquisitions.  In this role, you will perform in-depth technical analysis of potential acquisitions and partnerships and determine the optimal approach to integrate acquired products, technology, and operations functions.  After a deal is signed, you will work across multiple internal and external teams to envision and document the ultimate end-state for each integration, identify the steps needed to get there, and drive the end-to-end execution of the plan.

You should have a solid technical background and experience building and operating Internet services at scale, along with a deep understanding of business considerations and constraints that may apply to PayPal or acquired companies.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to drive mutually beneficial, consensus-driven outcomes are a requirement, as you will be interacting with leaders and SMEs in functions across PayPal and partners, operating in a highly regulated, confidential, and time-sensitive environment.

Job responsibilities may include:

  • Leading technical discovery and assessments of systems to evaluate a potential acquiree’s capabilities, availability, scalability, and suitability for business needs
  • Acting as a representative and ambassador for PayPal in technical discussions with potential acquirees
  • Documenting and presenting findings and making recommendations on the technical merits of a potential acquisition to leadership up to and including the senior executive level
  • Working across teams to develop an initial proposal for product and technology integration, including budgeting and timelines, for customer-facing, backoffice, and employee functionality
  • Coordinating with teams across PayPal and acquired companies to socialize, validate, and refine integration plans
  • Leading the end-to-end efforts to execute the integration plan, working with and through functional teams to prioritize and deliver outcomes
  • Maintaining and updating the M&A technical integration playbook
  • Domestic and international travel (20-30%)
