The Pricing Analytics team at PayPal plays a critical role in driving acceleration for PayPal’s top and bottom-line by using the scientific method to advocate for decisions founded in data driven insights. This team sits at the intersection of Strategy, Pricing and Analytics and has a front-row seat to Senior Leadership discussions on PayPal’s monetization strategy. We are looking for an exceptional analytics professional to join this highly visible team. This person will drive large scale impact for the business from week one and as such must have a well-rounded skill set including an excellent quantitative background, keen business acumen and strong leadership traits.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide holistic recommendations for segment level pricing optimizations that can drive meaningful financial benefit for PayPal without jeopardizing customer experience
  • Perform deep dive analytics including:  Cohort analysis, Pre Post analysis, Sensitivity analysis, Financial projections and additional ad-hoc exercises
  • Develop business-friendly reporting tools and dashboards to monitor overall pricing hygiene, analyze portfolio trends and flag any opportunities or issues
  • Play a crucial role in collaboration with our partners in finance to ensure transparency and alignment of data, views and metrics
  • Develop financial models to articulate the value of new initiatives, changes to existing initiatives and process improvements.
  • Be a thought leader in the Pricing Analytics space for new forms of analysis and model techniques that drive performance improving changes
  • Work with a geographically distributed team towards greater and greater quality deliverables, expanded skills, and growing needs of data science skills and more
  • Mentor junior analysts on tools, methods, and frameworks for solving problems

Job requirements:

  • Curiosity – the number one trait we look for in our team
  • Solid programing skills in at least one language (SQL,R, Python preferred), ideally reflected in your responsibilities on recent projects
  • Experience in at least one or more of the following: A/B testing, cluster analysis, breakeven/sensitivity analysis, time series forecasting, customer lifecycle value modeling
  • Must be comfortable working with data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, QlikView) to build self-serve reports
  • Must be capable of collaborating with and leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Leadership presence and an ability to clearly and crisply communicate complex analyses in a storytelling format
  • Experience negotiating with internal stakeholders to balance speed, quality and methodology with deliverables to achieve win-win outcomes
  • A consummate team player who focuses not just on the “What” but the “How”
  • A sense of humor – Take your work seriously but not yourself

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (MBA a plus)
  • 4-8 years in an analytical or similar numbers heavy role
  • Multiple years of experience in a stakeholder/client facing role (influence is a key part of this job)
  • Prior experience in financial services, e-commerce or payments is a big plus. Prior experience in pricing is also a plus.
