• Managing PayPal’s relationships with external Chinese payments partners (banks, processors, networks) • Working with the segment and sales & marketing teams, to support growth, and consulting on strategic elements that impact payments • Support implementation of complex major bank partnerships alongside the Director of Payments, China • Report directly to, and supports, the Director, International Markets Payments, China

China payment partners management

  • Coordination of regular Quarterly Business Reviews and irregular settlements between Ops team, Card companies and other local payment institutes for resolution and performance improvement meetings
  • Manage enquiries from PayPal’s Business Operations about discrepancies of funding data and actual settlements
  • Coordination between PayPal China merchant vetting team and credit card companies, banks, payment institutes and clearing/settlement networks (UPI, CUP, NUCC)
  • English translation of simple documents received from credit card companies and our processors for Singapore product platform teams to action

Bank partner management

  • Drive the sourcing and delivery of new products and partnerships that optimize our KPI's of transaction expense and revenue enablement.
  • Manage a portfolio of payment network, FI or Non-FI partnerships in China and be the first point of contact for the relationship and the PayPal business.
  • Analysis and optimization of our payment solutions and make recommendations to improve success rates, STP rates and lower costs.
  • Negotiate contracts with local service providers and payments partners.
  • Manage Business development opportunities with Financial Institutions, Card network companies and Payment processors.
  • Be the payments expert for the local business and the face of PayPal to the payment industry participants including banks, networks, and schemes.
  • Strategize on the future of payments in the China market and develop plans to partner with industry players to further digitize and democratize payments

Ongoing payments business management

  • Develop engagement and arrange meetings with different function lines within banks for new or on-going initiatives (current or prospective -- 4 to 5 meetings a week on average
  • Reply to various emails from Network partners, FIs, and within PP teams asking simple clerical information and follow up action items
  • Commercial contract preparation, negotiation, support and management
  • Support and manage internal documentation procedures
  • Distribution of various documents to partners, vendors and internal requirements
  • BS/BA degree required
  • Minimum 5+ years professional experience in Chinese payments at a bank, payment network, processor or payment institute with a strong emphasis on retail and/or card payments, cash management solutions and partner management
  • Track record of working with cross functional groups to identify payment market needs and facilitating solution development
  • Attention to detail and management of ongoing processes and problem-solving ability
  • Customer centric mindset
  • Knowledge of payment industry including payment types, payment experience, transaction processing, risk & fraud management
  • Understanding of key payment regulations and other related regulations is important
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin.
