As a Network Operations Engineer, you will be monitoring and maintaining network and network security equipment, WAN circuit troubleshooting, and handling proactive and reactive outages directly and by working with our vendors. Additionally you will be resolving network service requests along with troubleshooting performance issues with other groups. Other job responsibilities include monitoring network security equipment, managing network capacity, deploying equipment, implementing process improvements, administering network management systems or developing and maintaining network automation tools.

Job Requirements

  • Desire to skillfully troubleshoot, remediate, and find root cause in network and network security issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with multiple leading vendors of network hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with network security equipment such as modern stateful or application inspection firewalls.
  • Usage of common enterprise workflow ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and SaaS-based or on-premises network platform monitoring solutions.
  • Knowledge of public cloud environments.
  • Full network hardware lifecycle of deployment, replacement/RMA, and decommission of gear.
  • Management and troubleshooting of LAN connections and vendor-supplied WAN circuits across large global carriers.
  • Able to handle 12hr shifts and aware of the pros/cons of NOC shift-type work.
  • This position may also fill-in for either day or evening shift when team scheduling requires it, roughly 1 month per year so scheduling flexibility will be required.
  • Shifts can overlap one or both days out of the weekend.

Technical Skills Required

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4, packet captures, and packet/flow analysis.
  • Experience with BGP or OSPF routing in a multi-gigabyte environment.
  • Knowledge of IPv6, Multicast, Linux, Open-Source NMS tools, Oracle.
  • Scripting or programming skills in Python/Perl/C/C++/Java is a big plus.

Soft Skills Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Strong sense of professionalism, duty, and ethics.
  • Ability to sort and prioritize issues and requests from multiple sources, including e-mail, ticket queues, messaging clients, telephone, and senior NOC personnel.
  • Enthusiasm and interest in networking, network security, and technology across the stack.
  • Can work equally well independently and in a large team environment with co-workers in multiple time zones.
