PayPal is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to drive our journey designing and building high availability and resilient PayPal Payments Switch Platform. Team is responsible for building highly performant scalable and highly available platform for breakthrough Tokenization products. As a senior member of the Switch team, you will be at the forefront of designing and building the platform, the product experiences, and operations that are built on top of it to be leveraged by Core Payments and other organizations within PayPal. You will be responsible for applications and services handling Tokenization requests. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given. Responsibilities:

•Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.

•Work with other Architects, Product Management, and cross functional teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.

•Passionate about mentoring team members and bringing in new technologies within the larger team.

•Working with management in improving the team morale.

•Ability to lead large project involving cross vertical integration

•Ability to find and help fix performance, scalability, and other live issues in a very time critical environment

•Ability to work well with team members to achieve end vision.

•Be problem solvers and drive to get results.

Job Requirements  Required Skills:

•10+ years of experience in software development designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant components on the Unix platform

•Strong skill in developing object oriented software using Java8 and RxJava.

• Very good knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Integration, Protobuf, ReST and JSON.

•Strong problem solving skills and a passion for debugging complex issues

•Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•Experience supporting a high volume operations environment

•Experience as a development lead

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Payment industry.

• Strong knowledge of ISO 8583 and JPOS.

• Working knowledge of Netty.

• Working knowledge of messaging queues like AMQ/Kafka.

• Familiarity with GIT, SVN, Continuous Integration systems (Hudson/Jenkins) & Bug Tracking (Jira) tools

• Proficiency with XML/XSL frameworks .

• Working knowledge of Hibernate .

•Experience with using Agile/Scrum methodology for software development .

 Basic Qualifications

•Masters Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent

•Minimum 10 years of work experience developing back-end systems in Java
