Job Description Summary PayPal China Database team is responsible for fulfilling all database infrastructure needs of PayPal China. This includes new database builds, database support, database engineering, deploying schema changes to production databases while maintaining DB availability targets, implementing security policies, managing PP development databases, working on various NoSQL implementations and scripting to automate. We are looking for an exceptional Database engineer to join our team to help deliver for our business. Ideal candidate will enjoy various aspects of Database Administration and have interest in cutting edge technologies like Oracle, GoldenGate, Mongo, Cassandra, and Couchbase. In addition, strong Shell, Perl, and Python scripting experience will be a big plus

Job Description
As a Database engineer:
- Deliver various DB changes to PayPal's mission critical production databases.
- Database support and engineering
- Manage thousands of Dev/QA Database instances supporting PP cloud
- work with Product Development every day understanding requirements and implementing solutions so must be good with building relations with customers and partners
- Triage incidences and identify root causes
- Strive to achieve PayPals availability goals
- SQL review/tuning and suggest areas of improvements
 - Able to gel with a large team of DBAs, Operations groups, Capacity, and ETL team and willing to share knowledge
- Execute critical change requests
- Provide quality customer satisfaction
- Follow change management and security guidelines
- Must be solid with Shell, Perl, and/or Python to deliver on automation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to document and enhance process oriented approach.
- Must be able to Multi-task and prioritize without much supervision
- Oncall rotation
