We are looking for a full stack software engineer for the Personalization Platform at PayPal. This platform makes billions of decisions every day that shape the experience of our customers.

As a lead engineer within Personalization Platform, your work would span processing large scale data using Hadoop, building mid-tier services with RESTful endpoints and designing operational experience for users of the tool.

Main areas of responsibility are:

  • Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications
  • Work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions
  • Share release management duties on feature rollouts, share on-call responsibilities
  • Work on cross-functional/cross-domain projects
  • Help fix performance, scalability, and other live issues in a very time critical environment
  • Work well with team members to achieve end vision

Required Skills:

  • Solid experience in software development designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant components on the Unix platform
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skill in developing object oriented software using Java8
  • Very good knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Integration, ReST and JSON
  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL a plus
  • Strong problem solving skills and a passion for debugging complex issues
  • Proficiency with at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Unix Shell Script etc.)
