We are looking for a collaborative and versatile ML Engineer to be an integral part of our fast-paced, agile development team. At Paypal, we strive to provide the best in class payment experience with superior risk capabilities. This is possible with advanced data science technologies and machine learning models. In our next chapter for Risk, we are innovating to bring the same capabilities with automation built-in As part of a large cross functional team comprising of data scientists, analysts and software engineers we will be automating model deployment, model monitoring, and model governance with a platform that bridges the gap between engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders in production. We will manage and orchestrate all the steps from data ingestion and transformation, to model training and serving these models as scalable, fault-tolerant web services. This will help data scientists and engineers deploy their data science workflow into production in hopes to free data scientists from writing more bash scripts or glue code and instead allow them to focus on feature and model building, thereby accelerating their development lifecycle.


  • Build, evolve, and scale state-of-the-art machine learning system infrastructure powering PayPal's data and AI Platform
  • Be a key engineer contributing to the design, development and operation of the large-scale infrastructure systems
  • Work with other Machine learning / Deep learning researchers and backend engineers to implement scalable solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Creating data pipelines and overall workflow orchestration to cover data needs
  • Bridge the gap between engineering team and data science teams
  • Design and implement automation solutions at fast pace
  • Analyze and support requirements from machine learning specialists


  • 2 Years Minimum Experience
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interest in a technical role involving platform and infrastructure operation and management
  • Experience with managing, deployment of large distributed systems (like  Hadoop) and heterogenous platform component
  • Container-based deployment experience using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of programming languages like Java or C++, scripting languages like Python or Perl, and System administration experience of Unix or Linux systems
  • Experience with Machine Learning technologies: PyTorch, TensorFlow, SparkMlib, etc is a HUGE plus
  • Experience with integrating applications and platforms with cloud technologies like AWS, GCP, etc
  • Develop and integrate automation and tools for alerting, monitoring and providing NoOps deployments
