The Merchant Services Internship will be based in Milan, and will report to the Head of Merchant Services Italy. This internship will be a critical support to help PayPal to increase their focus on commercial efforts, while he/she can provide market analysis and competition assessment and help the Merchant Service team to get a close understanding of new business drivers, decision making & recommendations and consulting on the right set of corrective actions using data analysis and reinforce the ability to zero into what’s working/not working.

This role requires an individual with technical background and understanding of sales reporting, sales analytics, business intelligence, communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate with key business partners.

  • Support the Head of Merchant Services Italy and the MS team in across a broad range of activities, including supporting strategic initiative development, opportunity analysis, pain point resolution and process optimization
  • Track & monitor Top200 merchant’s trends
  • Convert business questions into problems for data analyses and come up with actionable insights to impact growth
  • Support with market analysis the definition of initiatives to positively impact the trajectory of the portfolio
  • Work with internal stakeholders to design, estimate potential benefit and execute new/existing verticals and business expansion, with a specific focus on start-ups/fintech ecosystem
  • Communicate concepts and results with clear and effective visualization (e.g. Excel Charts and PowerPoint slides)
  • Work closely with the other PayPal functions who shape our merchant experience, including product, risk, marketing, legal, compliance and finance
  • Working with the analytic team on deep dives into various KPI trends to improve performance

    Requirements:

  • Hungry to learn and challenge, creative, reliable, energetic, results focused with a can-do attitude
  • Interested in the operational, marketing and financial aspects of businesses in general
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Use data, insights and logic to deconstruct problems to identify the source and propose solutions
  • Highly organized, attention to detail and follow-through. Should enjoy problem solving, fixing processes and a desire to be a Small business champion
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and very strong in excel

To be considered you must:

  • Have a degree in a business / commercial related subject OR in the process of preparing final dissertation
  • Be fluent in English and Italian
  • Be available for 6- consecutive months to complete the Internship
