In our Latin America business unit, we are looking to hire an industry leader with a stellar Marketing Strategy profile.

This role will be responsible for developing end-to-end lifecycle management strategy for our small businesses in the region, including outlining acquisition programs, designing campaigns to drive products cross-sell and up-sell, as well as to drive more share of checkout transactions to PayPal.

This role is part of Latin America’s Marketing Strategy & Intelligence Team, and is located in the San Jose office.


This role requires a laser-focus on creating better ways for consumers and merchants to pay and get paid. Putting customers' needs first, coupled with a "challenger" mindset, we're redefining the payments category through product, marketing, and service delivery innovation. To re-invent a category, we need creative individuals who challenge conventional wisdom and are fired up about new and better ways to deliver for the customer.

The Merchant Marketing Strategy Manager will be responsible for helping shape our market It also encompasses defining KPIs to better track our merchants’ engagement and diving into data to surface insights that will be used for campaign design.


  • Defining the strategy and working with local marketing teams in developing comprehensive thought leadership and relationship management programs in the region, supporting our Sales teams efforts in prospecting new business partners, as well as expanding our relationship with existing ones.
  • Partnering with global teams and other regional marketing leads is crucial to share and leverage learnings from PayPal across the globe.
  • Teaming up with LATAM’s Marketing and Sales leads will be key for vetting the local markets and ensuring optimal development and deployment of campaigns.
  • This role will also play a project management role, defining priorities, dependencies and outlining deployment timeline of campaigns for all channels.

  • In addition, defining KPIs and reviewing campaign performance is key for making recommendations on how campaigns should be adjusted for constant customer experience improvement.

Small/Medium Business

  • He/she needs to partner with local teams to learn details on country/region specific challenges and work with our Analytics Team to dive deep into data and come up with valuable insights and hypothesis for campaign strategy creation.
  • Close partnership with the Global Lifecycle team and with other regional counterparts is also key to identifying opportunities and sharing of best practices.

Mid-market and Large Enterprise Business

  • He/she will support local teams in developing strategies to maximize return on investments for our co-marketing efforts based on analysis of previous campaigns performance in the region and benchmarks from similar programs in other markets.
  • This person will also partner with our local marketing and sales teams on coming up with comprehensive thought leadership and relationship management programs that would help strengthen our relationship with strategic clients and help position PayPal as an undisputed leader in the online payments space.
