PayPal operates a dynamic business in Europe that addresses the payment needs of both merchants and consumers. PayPal is rapidly becoming the preferred method of making and accepting online payments in the region on tens of thousands of merchant websites. PayPal is focused on maximizing the adoption, use, and preference for PayPal on-line by addressing customer needs, both merchant and consumer, more effectively than any other payments provider and by offering customers the best payment experience on the web.

Role focus:

The Marketing Intern for Benelux, Ireland, and Scandinavia, will support the local Marketing Manager in managing campaigns that drive acquisition of new PayPal users and boost engagement of current PayPal users in the region, mainly through co-marketing campaigns and partnerships with well-known consumer brands or partners. This role is based in Amsterdam.

You will assist in adding to and enriching our library of local insights and market research, including consumer surveys, brand ranking reports, internal data, and trends in digital marketing and advertising.  You will manage our monthly newsletters, owning the promotion calendar, the creative execution and results tracking. You will work together with the local Marketing Manager to develop the co-marketing strategy for Ireland, leveraging consumer insights to create a plan that is locally relevant and engaging.  You will also get the chance to lead 2-3 partnership negotiations for the region, shaping co-branded initiatives that benefit both PayPal and the partner brand. You will also support as needed on broader marketing projects lead by the Brand or Strategic Marketing teams.

We expect our intern to be autonomous, creative, and entrepreneurial.


The Local Marketing & Partnerships team sits within the broader Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) marketing team. This role works closely with Merchant Services, Business Development, Sales, PR, Brand, Product, Analytics, and the other CEMEA marketing managers to accelerate growth of new consumers, improve consumer comprehension of and demand for PayPal, as well as rejuvenate the brand.

Core Responsibilities:           

Co-Marketing: Lead the monthly newsletters for PayPal consumers, engaging internal teams, leveraging available tools at best, identifying the right target groups as needed, and negotiating with online retailers or service providers. Partnerships: Lead 2-3 partnerships with our key merchants to launch co-branded campaigns with the objective of acquiring new PayPal consumers, engaging existing users and enhancing the brand image. Enrich local insights in terms of consumer preference and behavior, value proposition, ecommerce landscape and/or marketing channels in the region. Regional team work: as part of the CEMEA marketing team, support on marketing projects from Brand, Lifecycle, or Strategic Marketing that touch Benelux, Ireland and Scandinavia. Plans: work with the local Marketing Manager to develop the local marketing and partnerships strategic for Ireland.

Job requirements:

  • Strong academic background (Master's Degree or Equivalent - only current students or recent graduates, within 6 months of graduation, considered).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable meeting with external decision makers.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Extremely organized and strong attention to detail
  • Good analytical skills, comfortable with numbers
