The Compliance team is responsible for the design, development, and support of Compliance APIs that are integrated with key strategic partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, working with petabyte-plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. In PayPal, we develop massively scalable, distributed software systems that require high availability to our business. We are always looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way.

This position includes design and implementation of enterprise-level compliance applications to manage risk exposures as a result of fraudulent activities.
The candidate will work with peers in development, product management to solve complex software engineering problems and proactively propose solutions to address technical challenges and business requirements.

As an Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:
• Develop a long-term technology road map.
• Manage the performance and career development of a team of engineers.
• Own significant parts of this platform which will require design, architecture, and coding.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams across PayPal.

Basic Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
• 2+ years’ experience in software engineering management.
• 5+ years’ experience programming in Java, JavaScript,  Python, XML, JSON, Node.js, React, Redux.

• 5+ years’ experience in building RESTful services.

• Experience in Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL databases.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience building and running in production (24x7 environments) distributed large-scale systems.
• Experience in developing tools, infrastructure or platforms.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, coaching and developing top engineering talent.
• Successful track record of managing teams of engineers and project management skills.
• Strong management skills for planning and executing complex multi-team projects.
• Thorough knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing technologies.
• Experience with industry, open-source projects and/or academic research in data management, relational databases, and/or large-data, parallel and distributed systems.
