As a full stack Engineering Manager, you will influence the consumer experience for PayPal’s customers in 200+ countries. We are looking for someone who is motivated, versatile, and hands-on as you are responsible for leading and developing a team of skilled engineers, helping with design, implementation and delivering state of the art content as a service, and web experiences for potential PayPal customers. You have deep experience in building customer facing products that involve web interfaces as well as mid-tier and backend components using a platform based approach. Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic and a collaborative mind set are the key to your success in this role. You will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility.

The primary role of the software development manager is to manage a scrum team, responsible for the delivery of world class web experiences, services and APIs for PayPal Consumer and related projects. This position requires background in software engineering, technical and people management. The successful candidate will work with other engineering managers to take care of day-to-day operations of a software engineering team and manage the quality delivery of programs within schedule.


  • Manage global cross-functional team in software delivery, software maintenance and second line technical support
  • Validating and managing project scope
  • Project tracking, reporting and auditing.
  • Resolve project issues, communicate status and coordinate activities with peer teams across geographies
  • Ensure successful implementation, integration, testing and roll-out of software
  • Meet project milestones and timely release of software according to roll-out plans
  • Enforce established processes, technical and QA standards
  • Resource and project roadmap planning
  • Team administration and staff development


  • 8+ years of experience in building scalable web applications
  • 1+ years of managing a team of Software Engineers
  • Success in hiring, mentoring, and developing highly effective Software Engineers
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance
  • Experiences with web technologies such as JavaScript, Node.js, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Hands-on experience in designing orchestration oriented platforms and services
  • Excellent knowledge of programming languages, especially Java (Scala a plus)
  • Experience using frameworks such as RestEasy, Spring, Apache CXF and Jersey
  • Has worked on projects involving the entire data pipeline (Ingestion, Store and Delivery)
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns and programming skill
  • Experience working cross functionally, partnering closely with design & product teams to craft great user experiences
  • Solid experiences with CD/CI, unit testing and automated functional testing frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field, or equivalent
