Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 210 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Manager Role for the Merchant Integrations Platform, managing two separate teams, overseeing development of our Webhooks notifications system, as well as our Sandbox integrations environment.

I'm looking for a Software Engineering Manager, but not the regular kind!

I want somebody who has worked 60+ hours a week, because they now understand the value of personal time.

I want somebody with experience on the latest and greatest framework fads over the past few years, because they now understand the value of making careful, well thought-out decisions.

I want somebody that has moved fast & broken things, because they now understand the value of a customer's trust.

I want somebody that has relentlessly executed many projects, because now they understand the value of maintaining good working relationships.

I want somebody that has a really strong technical background. (No, really. I definitely want this.)

Any complex software engineering project is going to require the coordination of several groups of humans. To be a successful Engineering Manager in this role, you need to have the background and skills that will enable you to understand the domain, as well as the experience to lead, nurture, and earn the respect of developers. You must be able to establish a collaborative atmosphere and drive consensus across several organizations, without ever losing track of whom we ultimately serve: The Customer.

Under the Merchant Integrations Platform organization you will manage two distinct domains:

  • Our Webhooks notifications platform, which serves tens of millions of messages on a daily basis, enabling back office operations for our Merchants and Developers
  • Our Sandbox Environment, the test-bed for millions of merchants as they integrate with PayPal APIs.

This role will give you exposure to a broad variety of technologies with very unique use cases, while managing a diverse and energetic team of engineers in San Jose, CA. Our organization provides a flexible work schedule, placing a lot of value in work/life balance, as well as personal and professional growth.

If you've been managing technologists for a while, and your values match ours; we should be working together to set the bar on what a great integration experience should be.

If you have a good foundation, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, your tech stack is largely irrelevant. I want to hire you not for what you've done, but for what you'll be able to do in our group.

We're a purpose-driven company whose beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We hold ourselves to our One Team Behaviors which demand that we hold the highest ethical standards, to empower an open and diverse workplace, and strive to treat everyone who is touched by our business with dignity and respect. Our employees challenge the status quo, ask questions, and find solutions. We want to break down barriers to financial empowerment. Join us as we change the way the world defines financial freedom.
