At PayPal, we have built an in-house digital marketing team to help plan, execute, measure, optimize, and report digital campaigns for a variety of marketing initiatives across the business. As part of the Growth team, the Programmatic Manager will collaborate with Channel Experts in an ongoing endeavor to increase the health of digital programs by supporting data & analytics and uncovering proactive insights for digital campaigns. The Channel Experts team works with a team of digital channel strategy leads (Channel Planning), which in turn support the marketing needs of stakeholders across all lines of business – including PayPal Credit and Venmo. This role will report to the Sr Manager of Programmatic Media.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting Senior Display Manager in the development of self-service programmatic team across display, video, social, mobile and app programs. 
  • Responsible for managing optimization team, working closely with in-house media activation team facilitate campaign management and execution responsibilities. 
  • Ability to articulate programmatic and app media’s role within larger digital marketing ecosystem. 
  • Proven record of streamlining campaign management and optimization processes within DSPs (display, native, social, video, mobile) as well as additional, supporting programmatic technologies (ad verification, data onboarders, etc.); ability to create processes to streamline ad operations processes through additional teams (internally or externally).
  • Expert in the programmatic field and industry – well versed in today’s programmatic and biddable media tools and technologies. Hands on experience managing campaigns within platform and ability to continually evaluate programmatic ad tech.


  • Deep expertise and knowledge in managing app install and mobile app campaigns. Familiar with optimization best practices in buying platforms (Apple Search, Google UAC, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.) as well as mobile marketing platforms (Adjust and Kochava)
  • Familiarity with use of different data sources for audience segmentation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd party; can translate audience segments into targetable audience attributes within programmatic platforms.
  • Partners closely with marketing analytics teams to answer marketing question as they relate to performance of digital media.
  • Value Proposition.  Candidate will translate the PayPal Inc brands into meaningful value propositions and benefits messages for all target audiences 

Required Skills

  • 5-7 years digital marketing experience – managing direct reports and medium-to-large, cross-functional teams. 
  • 5+ years directly managing paid media buys, including targeting, campaign optimization and measurement. Agency experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with DSP, Social and Mobile platforms required
  • Expert level and proven knowledge with Doubleclick Campaign Manager, Display and Video 360 (DV360), Google Analytics, Facebook, Google Ads, Kochava and Adjust. 
  • Experience with business analysis and experience with analytics systems (Tableau, SQL/SAS, Teradata) and experimentation is a significant advantage, but not a requirement
  • Highly competent in creating executive-level decks, strong data visualizations.  Must demonstrate an executive-ready presence, and the ability to present to members of the leadership team
  • Confidently demonstrate the ability to strike the balance between strategic thinking and hands on work
  • Demonstrated understanding of database systems/platforms, data taxonomy, data transfer; Database marketing, email/CRM experience a plus
  • Understanding of the financial services, financial tech, and payments industry / ecosystem a plus 
  • Track record of working with external vendors or internal partners, e.g. media and creative agencies
  • Candidates must have a proven track record of web site marketing execution and an ability to thrive within a fast-paced matrix environment
  • Be the strategic leader – identify gaps and take action to close them, serve as the voice of the franchise leading the path forward to establish PayPal as a world class marketing organization in the small and medium business space
