Job Description At PayPal Marketing, we have built an internal shared services team to help plan, execute, measure, optimize, and report digital campaigns for a variety of global marketing stakeholders across the business. Our team is staffed with highly talented and highly strategic channel operators with deep experience in the agency world. We operate as an in-house agency to service our paid media channels. The Programmatic Manager role will collaborate with Display, Paid Social, and Paid Search channel leads in an ongoing endeavor to increase the health of digital programs by supporting data & analytics, and uncovering proactive insights for digital campaigns. The Paid Channel Strategy & Optimization (PCSO) team is a subset of channel experts that works in the Growth Marketing Org at PayPal. We work closely with a team of Digital Channel Planning & Strategy leads, which in turn support the marketing needs of stakeholders across all LOB worldwide. This role will report to the Sr Display Manager of PCSO. The Programmatic Media Manager will be responsible for helping to oversee Display, Paid Social, App and Video channels. This role will help manage paid media strategy, operations, optimization, analysis, and innovation. This role will also play a major part in the development of both upper and lower funnel marketing strategies as we look to integrate beyond performance media channels. This role will have ownership over specific marketing campaigns while partnering closely with other marketing channel leads and analytics/experiment partners in order to drive Sign Up, Activation, Revenue, Cross-Sell and Product Adoption for Consumer Marketing in North America. He/she will work with the both internal and external teams to improve overall creative strategy and performance, strengthen our optimization strategies, and improve PayPal’s overall end-to-end customer experiences. This role will report to the SR Display Manager for the Paid Channel Optimization Group at Paypal.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting Senior Display Manager in the development of self-service programmatic team across display, video, social and mobile.
  • Responsible for managing optimization team to facilitate campaign management and execution responsibilities.
  • Ability to articulate programmatic media’s role within larger display and digital marketing ecosystem.
  • Ability to work closely with Senior Channel Managers to create business cases for investment in additional ad technology – including but not limited to investment in ad verification technology, optimization technology and measurement technology.
  • Proven record of streamlining campaign management and optimization processes within DSPs (display, native, social, video, mobile) as well as additional, supporting programmatic technologies (ad verification, data onboarders, etc.); ability to create processes to streamline ad operations processes through additional teams (internally or externally).
  • Expert in the programmatic field and industry – well versed in today’s programmatic and biddable media tools and technologies. Hands on experience managing campaigns within platform and ability to continually evaluate programmatic ad tech.
  • Proven record of developing media strategies - will be responsible for driving proposals audience and creative strategies in programmatic and social channels.
  • Deep knowledge of audience segmentation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data sources; can translate audience segments into targetable audience attributes within display and programmatic.
  • Partners closely with marketing analytics teams to answer marketing question as they relate to performance of digital media.
  • Value Proposition.  Candidate will translate the PayPal brand into meaningful value propositions and benefits messages for all target audiences
  • Cross-functional partnership.  Work with the Segment owners, Consumer Marketing, Global Brand, and Product Marketing teams to develop approach for prioritizing the work

Required Skills

  • 5-7 years digital marketing experience – managing direct reports and medium-to-large, cross-functional teams.
  • 5+ years directly managing paid media buys, including targeting, campaign optimization and measurement. Agency experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with DSP/DMP platforms required
  • Expert level and proven knowledge with Doubleclick Campaign Manager, Doubleclick Bid Manager, and Google Analytics
  • Highly competent in creating executive-level decks, strong data visualizations.  Must demonstrate an executive-ready presence, and the ability to present to members of the leadership team
  • Confidently demonstrate the ability to strike the balance between strategic thinking and hands on work
  • Demonstrated understanding of database systems/platforms, data taxonomy, data transfer; Database marketing, email/CRM experience a plus
  • Experience with business analysis and experience with analytics systems (Tableau, SQL/SAS, Teradata) and experimentation is a significant advantage, but not a requirement
  • Understanding of the financial services, financial tech, and payments industry / ecosystem a plus
  • Track record of working with external vendors or internal partners, e.g. media and creative agencies
  • Candidates must have a proven track record of web site marketing execution and an ability to thrive within a fast-paced matrix environment
  • Be the strategic leader – identify gaps and take action to close them, serve as the voice of the franchise leading the path forward to establish PayPal as a world class marketing organization in the small and medium business space
  • Bachelor Degree required, MBA/MS preferred.
