We're in the midst of building a global employee communications team with creative content experts, brilliant story tellers, and ridiculously talented strategic and executive communicators. For this addition to the team, we’re looking to hire someone who is part employee events guru and part employee communications Swiss Army knife. The primary responsibility for this position will be the end-to-end owning of key events like global all hands meetings, major leadership meetings and the like. We’re a small and mighty team, so this person will also have the opportunity to pitch in on a whole bunch of other employee communications projects. Wouldn’t want you getting bored. To be successful in this super awesome role, you must be an accomplished event producer, who owns events from concept through content creation, execution, and measurement. There’s no way to do all this unless you’re a highly organized individual. We’re talking the kind of person whose clothes are arranged in the closet by season, color, style and brand. You should also be able to write effectively across multiple channels, be flexible, well organized, have amazing executive presence, and should thrive on getting stuff done in a fast-paced, and highly matrixed environment. What you’ll do:

  • Drive the rhythm of PayPal’s key high profile global employee events and leadership meetings.
  • Working with the director of employee communications, create and drive event plans
  • Use a customer-back approach to delivering inspiring events at scale, leveraging data to continuously improve the employee experience with events
  • In partnership with your employee communications teammates, own event content
  • Deftly work up and down the organization and across peer groups
  • Tightly manage a budget that gets the absolute most bang for our buck
  • Present your thinking to senior leaders in a cohesive, articulate and executive-appropriate way
  • Manage team of external vendors
  • Write in an engaging style.
  • Manage project plans for key company initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal contacts, influencers and others, including counterparts within the larger communications function.
  • Demonstrate an ability to solve complex problems; lead cross-organizational efforts; build relationships across organization boundaries

What you should be really good at:

  • Producing turnkey events
  • Building, and then executing on, a clear event strategy
  • Writing executive communications; actually, all kinds of writing – you should be a great writer
  • Building relationships at all levels; building coalitions that come together to get work done
  • Multitasking – like, a lot of multitasking; some previous experience as a circus juggler is always helpful
  • Organization (see above multitasking requirement)
  • Driving multi-faceted corporate programs through effective communications
  • Leading and inspiring a team of vendors to get the best product possible
  • Doing what’s never been done before
  • Playing well with others
  • Having fun – we’re going to be spending a lot of time together, we’d best be having some fun

Qualities of the right candidate for this role:

  • You have 5+ years of event management and employee communications experience
  • You love creating compelling events that also drive employee inspiration and understanding of business strategy
  • You understand the symmetry between communications and other functions and how they fit together within the broader employee experience framework
  • You’ve managed corporate events and are excited about developing new ways to reach employees in innovative ways
  • You embrace change; like, you hug it so hard you squeeze the living daylights out of it
  • You are highly organized and able to effectively juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • You can create project plans while you sleep
  • You roll up your sleeves and make stuff happen
  • You demonstrate flexibility, resilience, speed and grace under pressure.
  • You are excited to generate, articulate and implement new ideas that will improve the employee experience
  • You are diplomatic, with the antennae to pick up on, and manage, organizational and cultural sensitivities and change.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of event management (preferable in a corporate setting) and employee communications experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field, required
