We are looking for a M&A Integration Communications Lead who can help drive and evolve our efforts to welcome newly acquired teams into the PayPal family with strong internal communications programs. The corporate communications team at PayPal is responsible for sharing the company’s compelling story and strong business performance to key stakeholder groups including business and trade media, influencers, industry analysts, investors and customers. We partner closely with diverse internal teams such as product communications, finance, legal, corporate development and human resources to build programs that communicate our vision, explain our strategy and enhance our corporate reputation.

Equal parts strategy and execution, this role calls for someone who can manage multiple programs simultaneously while also ensuring that every single element ladders up to a positive employee experience. Reporting to the Head of Financial Communications, this high-profile, high-opportunity position will have the chance to help shape perceptions of new employees and create scalable, repeatable, and transferable communications processes and tools to further evolve our M&A communications in line with deal volume and complexity.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in and contribute to the due diligence phase of potential acquisitions to assess the culture and internal communications effectiveness of target companies.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective internal communications strategies to drive understanding of transaction rationale among acquired employees and the broader PayPal community.
  • Engage as an active member of the extended Corporate Development, M&A Integration team
  • Create and deploy clear and engaging internal communications plans to welcome newly acquired teams into the PayPal family.
  • Lead content development for M&A integration and change management communications activities, focused on drafting or refining content across teams and in support of other functional areas that will coordinate with newly-acquired companies regarding, for example, changes in financial and HR reporting, enhancement in safety protocols and culture, adopting new corporate policies, transitioning to new IT systems, accepting new accounting guidelines, and refining external communications policy and practices.
  • Develop innovative and repeatable ways to communicate using available technologies.
  • Support executive leadership with messaging and presentation materials, assessing, anticipating, and addressing communications content needs that will help make the business transition smooth and effective for all leaders and incoming employees.
  • Act as an internal resource to effectively connect newly acquired teams with existing materials to make their integration successful.
  • Work cross-functionally with members of the product and corporate communications teams to ensure consistency, share resources, and facilitate collaboration across internal and external events and channels.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • At least 8 years of employee communications experience. Previous M&A integration and/or change management experience required.
  • Successful track record of problem solving, a “can-do” attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise positively with all levels of management.
  • Successful track record of leading complex projects requiring coordination of work across multiple stakeholders, negotiation, consensus building and problem resolution, and consistent demonstration of process improvement.
  • Ability to contribute to change and culture management initiatives that result from acquisition or divestiture.
  • Ability to build partnerships with executive level leadership, mid-level managers, and front-line employees.
  • Ability to travel to engage with incoming teams during M&A transition periods.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
