Leads GL projects related to M&A, Tax initiatives and Statutory reporting, Investments, and other GL functions, which support various business units and finance teams to achieve success.

The PayPal Controllership, Global Record-to-Report organization is looking for a highly motivated individual with a combination of strong accounting and interpersonal skills.  The General Ledger Manager position is located in Omaha, NE and will lead GL projects related to M&A, Tax initiatives and Statutory reporting, Investments, and other GL functions, which support various business units and finance teams to achieve success.


  • Manage the cutover activities for acquisition, liquidation and new entities for the following areas:
    • Close Tower
    • Prepaid Tower
    • Liability Tower
    • Fixed Asset Tower
    • Cash Tower
    • Intangibles
  • Lead the reconciliation between GAAP and Statutory Ledgers
  • Lead the Hypo Tax reconciliation process
  • Regularly conduct meetings with the outsourced shared service center team to review account reconciliations, clear open items, review quarterly metrics, discuss and resolve issues.
  • Manage Audit tasks related to GL functions such as:
    • GRC role owner, Segregation of Duties Access Review, Sensitive Access Review
    • SOX Documentation, Compliance, and Testing
    • Audit Response

Additional areas the position supports:

  • Process Improvement, standardization, stabilization, and transition to outsourced provider
  • Blackline N2:0L reconciliation development & implementation

The successful candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and possess extensive technical and operational accounting experience. The ability to manage relationships cross functionally through clear communication of goals and objectives is extremely important.

Candidates for this position must have:

  • 8+ years accounting experience in both public accounting, and industry. Experience at a large growth company a plus.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Experience of managing international entities & personnel
  • Solid experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc)
  • Strong process improvement skills; proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, rapidly changing environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives.
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with management.

Candidates should also possess the following:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and SOX
  • Polished communications skills including an ability to comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present findings as well as recommendations in both oral and written presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Energy and desire to thrive in a fast-paced organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent required
