The Emerging Payments and Partnerships team is responsible for building PayPal’s business in new mobile centric verticals like food & beverage and mobility services, new transactional ecosystems including marketplaces, and segments where PayPal has the opportunity to build new merchant and partner propositions. As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for delivering new business in both large merchant sales and new partnerships. As part of the deal structure the sales manager is responsible for the leadership and management of commercial, technical and operational aspects to drive new business. On a particular deal construct you will work closely with internal cross-functional teams for example in finance, compliance, risk and legal; partnering with sales engineering and operational teams to drive new business. You will be responsible for leading the negotiation for merchant and partner contract that may include opportunities to accelerate revenue or best in class consumer experiences. As well as deal management you be responsible for lead development of merchant and partner opportunities in verticals that you are responsible for. This will typically include identifying trends, opportunities and risks within a given segment; working with cross-functional teams on a go to market strategy to drive new business. As part of this work you will develop as a thought leader and advisor both to internal stakeholder and external business leaders, developing effective relationships with ecosystem stakeholders. You will create, maintain and review your own sales reports and forecasts using salesforce and other business tools to effectively manage your pipeline.

What does Success Look Like?  

  • Deliver against targets that may be stage gated and revenue based, that result in a new merchant business being live with PayPal and PayPal Inc properties where relevant
  • Front book; lead the development of PayPal’s entry and subsequent growth in identified market segments; benchmarks transaction volume, transaction count, revenue.
  • Strategic portfolio ownership; identify trends, opportunities and risks within the segment portfolio, driving key initiatives based on insights, leveraging cross functional teams (product, marketing, risk) to support and drive growth initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Serve as a point of escalation, supporting the account manager as the 'senior face' of the business if merchants in the portfolio seek escalation or if an account manager needs commercial support to achieve a particular objective.
  • Support strategic engagements to develop and articulate PayPal’s position on tactical and long-term opportunities.
  • Help to develop documents to facilitate cross-functional and cross-regional team discussions as well as communicate with Senior Management.

About You  

  • You will be an experienced sales professional having gained expertise in new business sales for merchant solutions or partnerships.
  • You will have 5+ years experience in business development, sales or partnership management.
  • You will have a background in or have worked in partnership with financial or payment organisations. You may have worked in a merchant or partner organisation.
  • You will have a proven track record in delivering new business, with the ability to demonstrate that you have consistently met or exceed sales targets.
  • You will have energy and passion for what you are doing, self-motivated and focused on delivering outcomes.
  • MBA or quantitative degree preferred, but not mandatory.
