PayPal Japan is looking for customer-centric business development manager to drive new business opportunities leveraging PayPal's set of products and services. The candidate will identify, drive and build strategic relationship with business partners in verticals such as financial service, advertisement, and platformers. Our ideal candidate will have deep experience in business planning, strategic relationship building, and deal negotiation/closure.


  • Serve as a key member of Strategic Growth team to drive product go-to-market strategy.
  • Identify and/or analyse feasibility of new business opportunities which includes key partnership development in Japan.
  • Drive customer or partner engagements from initial pitch to deal signing and on-going relationship management with senior level executives and day to day personnel.
  • Collaborate and integrate knowledge and feedbacks from both in and out of organization and assure the success from development phase to the implementation phase.
  • Work closely with PayPal product, sales/marketing, and other stakeholders both domestic and international to source opportunities and educate partners when necessary.
  • Maintain good understanding of the external environment to anticipate changes and seek for new opportunities that can impact the business.
  • Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to closing new customers


  • 5+ years’ experience in sales, business/partner development, international business within the eCommerce, Payments, Financial Services, Retail or Internet in general.
  • Proven track record in planning and strategic formulation and execution of strategy. Solid business sense with effective balance of strategic vision and tactical execution.
  • Proven track record of business development and deal-making. Exceptional consultative skills and experience, coupled with a passion and hunger for PayPal’s growth.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in internet industry and/or payment.
  • Experience working in ideally a small team, hands-on environment.


  • Self-managing and strong project management skills as the role will see the person interacting with many levels and across multiple functions and business units.
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to execute cross-functionally. Ability to work in virtual and multi-national teams, builds relationships, and work effectively as a part of a team.
  • Energetic, passionate, assertive, sense of humour, friendly/outgoing, easy to work with.
  • Excellent writing, communications, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Verbal and written skills in Japanese and English.


  • Successful completion of a university Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business or Marketing; MBA a plus
