PayPal Tax is seeking a Tax Integration Manager to join our M&A Tax group. In this role, you will lead Tax’s M&A integration activities, working collaboratively with other finance integration leaders to plan and execute on all tax-related activities associated with acquisitions. You will interact across Tax sub-teams (e.g., income tax/provision, transfer pricing, indirect tax, information reporting) to ensure all tax integration items are appropriately planned for and executed. The role requires an individual who can develop global processes while simultaneously ensuring the successful planning, initiation and execution on tax integrations for acquisitions.


  • Create a comprehensive tax integration project plan, which includes all tax workstreams and functional tasks to achieve integration milestones, managing the day-to-day tax integration efforts, including:
    • Understanding an acquired company’s pre-acquisition federal and state income tax return, indirect tax return, property tax return and information reporting filing footprint to coordinate the filing of any returns or information reports that are due in the post-acquisition period prior to the integration of a newly acquired entity into PayPal’s legal entity structure.  
    • Coordinating with an outside advisor on the preparation of the tax valuation to support the integration of the newly acquired entities. 
    • Work with the Tax Compliance and Provision Group to ensure all information necessary to prepare tax purchase accounting and the opening tax balance sheet, including DTAs and DTLs, for acquisitions are available.
    • Work with the Compliance and Provision, Indirect Tax, Information Reporting and Transfer Pricing Groups to ensure that any FIN48 or FAS5 reserves are recorded in connection with an acquisition.  
    • Coordinate the preparation of any tax-related agreements which are required to support the period prior to which an acquired company is integrated into PayPal’s legal entity structure, such as intangible property assignment agreements, license agreement, interim inter-company agreements.
  • Define and identify issues that require escalation; recommend an escalation path appropriate to the issue and project prioritization.
  • Represent the Tax group at finance integration meetings.
  • Support the Tax Compliance and Provision, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing and Information Reporting groups on other tax integration issues as needed.
  • Develop, implement and maintain tax integration processes and governance, including the tax integration playbook.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other business-related field.
  • JD/LLM in Taxation and/or MS Taxation preferred.
  • 5+ years of corporate tax experience in an accounting firm, multinational corporation and/or law firm, including cross-functional project management experience, with at least 3 years of M&A experience, including active tax integration involvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
