The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for implementation and support of IT operations at the operating system level for all Linux-based virtual server systems. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, automating and optimizing key functional areas. Systems will be hosted on private (ESXi), and public (AWS) cloud offerings.

  • Collaborates with managers and leads to develop an effective on-call rotation schedule across all Linux System Administrators for 24/7 support.
  • Works directly with third party support organizations to support on-premise hosted infrastructure.
  • Provides ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of Linux-based systems, including 24/7 on call coverage for data center solutions as required.
  • Execute on priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all Linux-based systems.
  • Maintains an evergreen environment insuring, OS and related services are effectively maintained and upgraded.
  • Conducts feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Works closely with enterprise and application architects and other IT infrastructure team leads to define hardware and infrastructure software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
  • Tests server performance and provides server performance statistics and reports; develops strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
  • Assists and/or leads the testing of database performance and provides database performance statistics and reports; participates in the development of strategies for maintaining database server infrastructure.
  • Works closely with the Director of Site Operations to manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base.
  • Practices IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
