Job Description Summary As a merchant (Online Payments) engineer, you will be responsible for working on applications and services that handle all types of PayPal transactions. You may be also owning one or two components and be a gatekeeper for any code changes to that component. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given. You will master both established and cutting edge technologies like Java, JavaScript, Node.js, HTML5/CSS3, Hadoop, MongoDB among others.

Key Qualifications:

  • BS in EE/CS or an equivalent qualification
  • 8+ years of hands on Java programming experience.
  • Strong hands on development experience with Java, JEE, Spring, Hibernate, JPA
  • Strong hands-on experience with developing RESTful APIs
  • Experience working with SQL and noSQL DataBase
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills and concepts
  • Have a passion for quality and writing clean and solid code that scales and performs well.
  • Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others.
  • Strong design skills & thorough technical documentation.
  • Experience with leading a project team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Architecture and Design at a System or Subsystem Level.
  • Development and testing of features/functions delivered via applications and services.
  • Collaborating with peers and Architects both within their team and across the organization
  • Working with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time
  • Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable
  • Supporting your applications and/or services as and when required on a 24x7 basis
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the team both in the technical as well as on the product side.
