The Lead Partnerships Manager, PayPal Gives, will help us further our global social impact objectives by building strong relationships with strategically aligned nonprofit organizations. This team player will be responsible for managing existing grantee relationships, helping to identify opportunities for new philanthropic investments, overseeing the grantmaking process, managing skills-based employee engagement, coordinating PayPal Gives operations and fund management, and working to measure and share the impact of our grantmaking activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director to enhance and expand our philanthropic strategy in support of our Social Innovation areas of focus
  • Research, find, and assess grantees that best align to the PayPal Gives grantmaking strategy focused on supporting minority owned small businesses and the economic opportunity of youth
  • Manage global grantmaking: maintain, improve and expand GIVE Team usage of the online grant application platform; review and approve grant applications, perform impact analysis, develop summary reports
  • Vet and conduct due diligence on organizations and projects (staff, financials, history, plan, etc.)
  • Design grant agreements, including outcomes measurement and project elements
  • Support the global GIVE Team program: build awareness of, and engagement in, GIVE teams in office locations around the world; train employee volunteer leaders; build and provide resources to leaders; communicate the efforts of these teams
  • Create and project manage skills-based volunteer programs connected to our grantee partnerships
  • Help create a culture of giving and create resources to support and strategically align employee volunteerism
  • Support local corporate giving initiatives and charitable sponsorships
  • Work with cross-functional partners, including external communications and investor relations, to drive awareness of programming and gather insights and analytics around funded projects
  • Prepare summary reports on philanthropic efforts, including PayPal’s response to CSR industry surveys
  • Respond to philanthropic inquiries at all levels: corporate, executive speaking, external sponsorships and internal programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years professional experience in a private or corporate foundation, CSR position, or another grantmaking role
  • Demonstrated passion for Social Innovation and CSR efforts
  • Experience in grantmaking and grantmaking strategy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Innovative, strategic, open minded, and creative
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and comfortably with nonprofit leaders and cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of who the key stakeholders and organizations are and industry best practices and guidelines
  • Project management skills with attentiveness to detail and consistent follow through
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make good use of time management skills
  • Experience working with vendors on outsourced programs
  • Ability to work confidently and thrive in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and results-oriented corporate environment where a high degree of flexibility is required
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrable comfort with data/data analytics
  • Global mindset; knowledge of the San Jose Bay Area and key PayPal geographies ideal
