PayPal is looking for a Software Engineer to drive our journey building high availability and resilient PayPal Payments Switch Platform.

As a Software engineer in the Core Payments and Switch team, you will be at the forefront of building Switch platform, its APIs, the product experiences, and operations that are built on top of it to be leveraged by the tenancies of PayPal. You will be responsible for working on applications and services that handle all aspects of the PayPal Core Payments system. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given

Typical Switch team engineer responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered via applications and services
  • Write high quality design documents
  • Integrating new tenants
  • Working with product managers using Agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time
  • Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable
  • Supporting your applications and/or services as and when required on a 24x7 basis

Desired Skills:

  • Strong skill in developing object oriented application/service using Java8
  • Good knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Integration, Protobuf, ReST and JSON
  • Experience in software development designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant components on the Unix platform
  • Working knowledge of messaging queues and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in Payment industry.
  • Familiarity with GIT, Continuous Integration systems (Jenkins) & Bug Tracking (Jira) tools
  • Experience with using Agile/Scrum methodology for software development.
  • Experience in Javascript and/or Node.js is a plus
  • Experience in software development designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant components on the Unix platform

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS or Equivalent (Computer Science or related major preferred)

Internship or other work experience. 3+ years work experience
