The Credit Services team provides the business capability that adds credit to the wallet of millions of PayPal customers. The software this team develops enables the fastest growing revenue area of the company. As a member of this team, you’ll be working side-by-side with some of the sharpest and highest-performing software engineers at PayPal. You will be responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle of our existing and next generation credit products. This is a unique opportunity to get in-depth knowledge on developing highly-scalable, distributed services to enable PayPal’s credit products as well as a breadth of knowledge of payment systems in general. You will be expected to quickly become a contributing and effective member within your scrum team We’re looking for self-motivated and ambitious teammates that will independently run down solutions to difficult problems but know when to ask for help. We’re serious about the growth and development of talented engineers at PayPal, so you’ll be mentored by a senior teammate to learn PayPal’s organization, architecture, and processes as well as our tools and technologies (like Java, JUnit, REST, Eclipse, C++, SQL, git, Spring, and others).

Design, develop, and test features and functions delivered via applications and services
Collaborate with peers and seniors both within your team and across the organization
Identify Performance bottlenecks and use good coding patterns to avoid them.

Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers and architects across different teams to design and develop solutions. Striving to develop solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.

• Development experience with high-traffic backend services.
• Mastery of the fundamentals of Java, JUnit, Maven, Jenkins.
• Mastery of open-source Java Frameworks, including Spring MVC.
• Direct experience with concepts such as SOA, REST APIs, message-based communication.
• Experience with Git, Jira, Tomcat, SQL, Couchbase.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum

• BSEE, CS + 5 yrs or MS + 4 yrs

Preferred Qualifications
Strong working experience with REST APIs, Java and Spring
Excellent problem solving skills
Comfortable with Scrum methodology
Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and use good coding patterns
