The PayPal, Professional Services, LATAM Integration Engineer Provides integration engineering services and technical consulting to mid tier / top tier merchants and partners in their successful implementation of company products to ensure merchants implement optimal integration strategies, techniques and best practices and reviews solution designs of junior engineers.
Integration Engineers Identify and troubleshoot integration technical issues both internally and with external partners, and may assist junior engineers in troubleshooting. They also Interface directly with customers and key internal stakeholders (Account Management, Technical Account Managers, Global Operations, etc.) and they interact with additional internal key stakeholders, including Product Management, Risk, Compliance, etc. to address specific client integrations requirements or new products features.


  • Work in collaboration with Solution Engineers and Solution Architects to integrate proposed PayPal  solutions into the client ecommerce platforms.
  • Interacts directly with customers to understand and articulate business requirements.
  • Interacts with additional internal key stakeholders, including Product Management, Risk, Payments, etc. to address specific customer business requirements or new product features.
  • Work closely with internal teams including compliance, privacy, risk, information security, support and operations to ensure all aspects of a merchant launch are manag ed
  • Ensures partners implement optimal integration strategies, techniques and user experience best practices
  • Majority of time confirming and gathering business requirements, project managing the development of merchant code and internal PayPal support teams, debugging merchant code, and validating working code against use cases.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. 
  • 2+ years of experience with Internet and mobile technologies including Web Services, SOAP, NVP, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android and leading web and mobile application frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience with three or more major programming languages (C++, Objective-C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, .NET, PHP or Python).
  • Ability to successfully interact and dynamically adapt communication styles with technical project teams at client organizations
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Brazilian Portuguese. 
  • 25% domestic and international travel, with a current passport and no history of declined visas, or entry refusal to any country.

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years experience with Payments (Credit Card, Banking, Online, Offline), especially with ecommerce systems, payments gateways and payment processors is highly valued.
  • 2+ years of experience in Integration Engineering or Professional Services, preferably with large to enterprise-level companies engaged in ecommerce.
  • Previous experience with OEM devices or mobile systems, preferred but not required.
  • Ability to translate requirements into detailed design and solution documents.
  • Ability to analyse strategic objectives and define specific tactical goals required to achieve them.

Technical Competencies

  • Broad understanding of technical concepts and payment processing as it relates to company products and integration. 
  • Experience with software application debugging, implementation and troubleshooting (Apache, PHP, SSL, JSON, HTML, CSS, JS).
  • Experience implementing technology based on APIs, REST API, SOAP, NVP.
  • Highly skilled at applying consultative methodologies and techniques to solve integration pain points.
  • Quickly assess and troubleshoots most integration issues. 
  • Leverages customer relationship and time management skills to effectively work with multiple external customers concurrently.
  • Self –learner for most of the topics on new products with proficiently designs solutions and deliver integrations with both off the shelf and customized products.


  • 1 to 2 years systems integration or integration support experience
  • Strong presentation skills (Presenting to Business units and Technical teams)

Language requirements:

  • Portuguese native Speaker.
  • English proficiency in Technical and Business Terms.
