PayPal is currently seeking a high-energy, driven, collaborative applicant that brings extensive problem-solving skills to further its goal of applying creative solutions to understand and manage risk. This security analyst role is multi-disciplinary focusing on a broad spectrum of industry experiences and deep analytical expertise.

This role gives an opportunity to work alongside industry leading security professionals in a cutting-edge threat management group with a specific focus on technical diligence for possible ventures and M&A

The key objectives of this role would be to:

  • Research entities that are related to potential ventures or merger and acquisitions
  • Develop and manage reporting and value assessments for research
  • Develop and improve new tools and platforms to support due-diligence investigations

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with various PayPal teams to assess the security stance of external companies, partners, merchants as well as internal business units.
  • Perform open source intelligence research on various types of entities, including domestic and foreign individuals, corporations, domains, etc.
  • Utilize various network scanning tools to gather information on, including but not limited to, domains, IP addresses or IP ranges.
  • Utilize various software programs for assessing Internet pages, GitHub repositories, etc.
  • Create, maintain and improve automated processes and programs related to primary responsibilities
  • Utilize information from a variety of sources to generate reports on various entities
  • Use critical analysis skills given a variety of data sets, their confidence, and context to enrich report findings
  • Translate technical information about entities for non-technical audiences

Job Requirements

  • Professional experience utilizing programming languages and aptitude to quickly learn new software/tools. Python experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in finding and utilizing open source information from a variety of sources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with vulnerability scanners and responsible usage
  • Familiar with penetration testing and exploitation techniques and tooling
  • Practical experience with cloud services and cloud environments
  • Fundamental understanding of networking concepts and Internet communication mechanisms
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a discipline like Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Professional experience with Linux
  • Ideal candidate should demonstrate history of critical and analytical thinking including problem solving, attention to detail, ability to handle shifting priorities/deadlines and multi-tasking
