The Director, Head of Global Digital Marketing Services is a newly created position to help build and scale PayPal’s new Global Marketing Services (GMS) organization. This integral, high profile leadership position will work with key stakeholders across Consumer, Merchant and Credit business lines and the digital marketing teams in the North America, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), Latin America (LATAM) and Asia Pacific (APAC) to unify and align on key global optimization initiatives to increase velocity and performance of PayPal’s digital marketing efforts.


This person will be tasked with four (4) primary initiatives: 

Strategic Ad Tech Platform Development – Develop a POV and 2-5 year roadmap to guide PayPal into the next generation of paid media.  This POV will include how to best leverage our data for strategic purposes, define what tools and technologies need to be developed/bought to continue to make paid media a strategic asset to PayPal.

In-House Media Buying Capability Development – Develop a POV and 1-3 year roadmap on how to develop a best in class programmatic media buying capability that can scale globally.  This POV will include a perspective on talent, process, and administrative protocols required. 

Ad Tech Platform Migration Planning, Management and Execution.  Lead a team to support the roll out of Google’s DoubleClick, Visual IQ’s Multi-Touch Attribution and other platforms/tools to the regions.  Develop a governance plan on data taxonomy and training content to ensure the tools to ensure mass adoption by regional and country buying teams and agencies. 

Media Investment Leadership & Process Optimization – Manage and execute PayPal’s upfront digital media investment program.  Support regions in optimizing Finance, Legal, Information Security and Privacy approval and Purchase Order processes.

Global Digital Services

  • Outlines vision and roadmap to become best in class for digital marketing against paid, owned and earned channels.
  • Aligns regions against common Ad Tech requirements including ad serving, data management platform.
  • Oversees data taxonomy governance.
  • Drives development and delivery of best practices to regions.
  • Develops and executes media upfront strategy (if applicable) and global vendor negotiation.
  • Drive POV and platform capabilities to improve targeting and match rate across desktop and mobile environments.
  • Scales social marketing capabilities and strategies.
  • Build out of Programmatic Guarantee program with select partners.
  • Knowledge of Owned & Operated inventory monetization.


  • Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Marketing, Business Administration, or closely related field and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in the job offered.
  • 5-6 years experience in financial services with focus on Digital Marketing, Social Marketing, Programmatic Digital Media.
  • Experience working on publisher platform a plus.
  • Masters Degree not mandatory, but considered a plus.
  • Highly analytical thinker with experience in quantitative media analysis and incrementally testing.
  • Experience distilling business/marketing requirements/needs for heavily technical stakeholders.
  • Highly effective communicator, who interacts with clarity and purpose, and who has experience interacting at all levels of organization.
  • Process driven individual who has effectively managed and executed complex, multi-layer work streams in a matrix organization.
  • Experience managing up to managers including distilling critical information and ensuring communications are clear and action oriented
