The Head of Global Content Innovation & Creation will lead PayPal’s content creation and innovation team and related campaigns and programs in partnership with the corporate communications, product communications and regional communications teams. This leader will be responsible for day-to-day management and execution of a variety of strategic communications initiatives that create stories, with expertise, that gain attention in a credible way designed to help the company promote its corporate reputation and build its brand.

The ideal candidate will have the vision for trying new types of communications content and have an entrepreneurial and creative spirit for online storytelling.

Reporting to the Senior Director and Global Head of Product, Customer Experience and Technology Communications, the Head of Global Content Innovation & Creation

will lead an accomplished team and work closely with Business Units, the Go-To-Market, Integrated Marketing and Brand functions. 


  • Work with Directors of Communications, Reputation Management and regional communication leads to undertake creative, thoughtful and impactful proactive communications activities to promote PayPal’s corporate narrative and strengthen the company’s brand and corporate reputation.
  • Develop a clear direction for storytelling that unifies all our channels. Evaluate and evolve current owned content channels and evolve to be more effective against business objectives. 
  • Responsible for building and creating an “always on” news and content organization within the company to assert editorial integrity and become a credible source of relevant information. This includes leading the strategy development, creation and distribution of all PayPal editorial content.
  • Produce content that communicates who PayPal is, as a business and as a brand, that our audiences not only want to consume but will seek, content that’s deeply and personally relatable, and content that people interact with and share with their networks.
  • Evaluate and ensure when specific content must deliver against key brand and business goals.
  • Create unique content opportunities from social media to earned media to content partnerships that provides PayPal the opportunity to infuse our storytelling with credibility and character.
  • Evaluate and understand the creative and digital technology landscapes to identify issues and trends that may impact PayPal and our storytelling.  In the end, finding opportunities where no other brands are willing to go.
  • Spot and seize on cultural and/or industry trends that work with PayPal digital storytelling.
  • Serve as the lead liaison for content creation across corporate affairs including employee communications, corporate communications, reputation management and the central and regional communications teams to ensure creativity, consistency and innovation in brand building, product launch, lifecycle and customer engagement.
  • Build and lead a diverse team of high performing members and provide long-term career paths for each of them.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years work experience in an agency, corporate and/or media environment.
  • Developed communications programs.
  • Conducted public relations or marketing/branding activities.
  • Led a successful and collaborative team, established team goals, & developed team members.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 15+ years work experience with a blend of agency, in-house and media expertise.
  • Extensive content leadership experience.
  • Proven digital strategy expertise including distribution and syndication.
  • Experience with media partners and paid media companies.
  • Experience in journalism.
  • Experience working with a digital newsroom.
  • Must have a track record of employing Exceptional creative skills and a track record of executing strategic, communications and content programs to achieve business and reputational goals.  We want strategic and innovative thinkers who will push the organization, while always keeping focused on the goals ahead.
  • Experience developing global corporate communications plans, programs and policies. Track record of managing communications in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Experience leading financial communications activities (earnings, M&A, etc.) and industry analyst programs. 
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and synthesize key points clearly, succinctly and quickly.
  • Experience working with world-class brands.
  • Experience counseling C-suite-level executives.
  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines.
  • Proven experience working on complex programs and/or in complex organizations. 
  • Superb communications skills, including writing, verbal and editing.
  • Ability to think creatively.  Must be able work independently and without direction as well as collaboratively with colleagues in such varied positions as marketing, finance, investor relations and legal.
  • Must be able to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
  • Must be a hands-on, active leader who loves to write, debate, and engage with media, influencers and other third parties.  Possesses a sense of humor, patience and positive attitude.  
  • Strong people leader and coach who focuses on talent development, growth and team engagement.
