The GL supervisor will be supporting the Accounting and GL function for PayPal APAC/EMEA entities.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the Accounting and GL operations of all entities in PayPal APAC/EMEA entities are properly handled.
  • Supervise the processing activities of outsourced group of accountants in China and India.
  • Work in partnership with outsourcing service provider to improve the GL processes.
  • Ensure month end close/ month end reports are completed timely and accurately.
  • Maintain proper reconciliation of GL accounts and integrity of financial statements.
  • Support Controllership and Tax team for annual statutory audit and tax filing; Support Indirect tax (VAT/GST etc) on monthly/quarterly/yearly tax filing; Support new entities set up/dissolution.
  • Ensure compliance to corporate financial policies, SOX , accounting standards and other regulations.
  • Identify knowledge needed and set up plan for knowledge sharing to improve quality of services.
  • Support GL customer improvement objectives.
  • Ad hoc report or project as requested.

Candidate should be able to demonstrate familiarity and proficiency in the following areas:

  • Execute Best of Class process and procedure.
  • Execute on efficient, yet control robust, procedure for core accounting functions including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Payroll Accounting etc.
  • Ability to understand indirect tax concepts.
  • Statutory, regulatory and other government and compliance agency reporting requirements including local, applicable laws and reporting standards.
  • Desktop applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interaction with external parties including outsourcing service provider, auditors, tax consultant and other service provider.
  • Operating successfully in a high growth, dynamic environment with multiple demands.

Other pluses

  • SAP experience.
  • International or US-based company.
  • Ability to work with people outside the country.

Qualification

The applicant should have a minimum of a Chartered Accountant / Certified Public Accountant or equivalent qualification. Minimum 6-7 years of related accounting experience with a multinational company. Hands-on experience in managing general ledger and reporting function.
