PayPal's DPX Framework and Messaging Team (FMT) is looking for talented Full-Stack engineer in Austin to help guide the delivery of a unified configuration authoring and delivery platform. We want people who thrive on satisfying customer needs and who have a passion for creating exceptional technologies. 

As a senior software engineer, you will closely interact with Product Owners and your Engineering Peers in building new configuration management capabilities and improving existing products, developing robust software solutions and scalable products for PayPal’s framework/Configuration platform. You’ll make architectural decisions, estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, production deployments and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative and curious, as you’ll work in a fast-paced environment where continuous experimentation and innovation are a given.

Responsibilities

Own and drive the Design, development, and testing of features delivered as applications and/or services.
Ability to go in-depth on the technology stack, across different technologies to understand end-2-end system workflow.
Actively participate in code reviews to attain the highest standards
Mentoring team members to follow best practices
Evangelize and drive tools and technology choices at PayPal
Drive teams to follow clean code principles
Collaborating with peers and leads both within the team and across the organization.
Working with scrum teams and product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
Working with operations teams to ensure applications and services are highly available, scalable and reliable.
Supporting applications and/or services as and when required in all time zones.

Requirements:

5 plus years’ experience developing in one or more of the below mentioned development stacks
    ⁃    Expertise in large distributed systems using Java, C, C++, Go or Scala.
    ⁃    Experience developing in Spring Framework, Spring Integration, ReST, RxJava.
    ⁃    Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as NodeJS, Reacts/Angular.js.
 
    •    Proficient in back-end development using Java EE technologies (e.g. Java language, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, etc.).
    •    Strong OOP skills, with the ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs.
    •    Experience with HTTP, REST API's and competent designing and building web services/microservices in a commercial setting.
    •    Familiar and comfortable with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in web services
    •    Cognizant of SQL and other/NoSQL/modern database and storage technologies. Desired understanding of Oracle, JDBC and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).
    •    Experience with Design Patterns, MVC and frameworks (e.g. Spring).
    •    Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability, and performance.
    •    Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You have a bias towards action and results
    •    Competent in software engineering tools (e.g. Java build tools), Unix based systems and best practices (e.g. unit testing, test automation, continuous integration, etc.).
    •    Ability to adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems/technologies
    •    Good team player, able to effectively work across multiple teams on solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements in a fast-paced environment

Basic Qualifications:
    •    Minimum of 4+ years of software development experience.
    •    BS or higher Computer Science/Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience    
 

Preferred Qualifications:
    •    Experience with containerization using Docker
    •    Cloud experience with private and/or public cloud such as GCP or AWS.
    •    Message broker and streaming services like ActiveMQ and Apache Kafka
    •    Experience working in Agile SCRUM teams.
    •    Working knowledge on any one of these scalable clusters: Mesos/kubernetes/docker swarm.
    •    Experience in at least one dynamic language such as Perl, Python or Ruby.
