The Compliance team is responsible for the design, development, and support of Compliance APIs that are integrated with key strategic partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, working with petabyte-plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. In PayPal, we develop massively scalable, distributed software systems that require high availability to our business. To achieve this we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs. We are always looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way. You will build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a technical fascination for how everything ties together.

Primary Job Responsibilities.

  • Spends most of the time coding and efficiently produces exemplary and thoroughly tested code for most challenging features.
  • Works closely with Senior Engineers / Architects to develop, test large scale distributed systems.
  • Own and drive development and delivery of features.
  • Articulate design and development processes to technical and non-technical team members.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team.
  • Produces clear, well-documented code for product features.
  • Prototype ideas quickly using cutting edge technologies.

Job Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of software development experience
  • A degree in Computer Science or related degree required.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Experience in architecting, designing & developing high performance, scalable and available web services (preferably REST architecture) using JEE.  
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns.
  • Well experienced in developing and executing automated unit, functional and integration tests.


  • Excellent Hands On knowledge of Architectural Patterns, Design Patterns, programming languages, especially Java and JavaScript (NodeJS).
  • Knowledge of C/C++ would be an advantage.
  • Experienced in using frameworks such as Spring and Apache CXF.
  • Good understanding of relational database performance concepts and usage of ORM frameworks such as Hibernate.
  • Previous experience with the Agile methodology.
  • Experience working with Linux/Unix scripting & GIT.
